This was one the first shows recorded at the then very new London Weeekend Studios next to the Thames. It was shown at 9pm Christmas Eve (ULTRA PRIME TIME!!) The producer was Bruce Gower & his p.a. was Vicki Ford (Both truly wonderful people) The musicians were sent a telegram (!) & given 3 days to learn Chopin's C# minor waltz. The first two rehersals were held at a big.empty room in a north London tower block. There was just an upright piano there. The 3rd day had a rehersal in the brand, spanking new LWT big studio. This scene was as the start of the show, like it was still a rehersal. There was only one take and the mistakes were kept in because Victor`s ad-lib comments after these blips were so priceless. By now you must be thinking how does this guy know so much about this? The answer is simple, I am Michael!! My real name is John Pochin. I studied at the Royal Academy of Music. 10-18 yrs as a junior, then full time gaining a GRSM, LRAM & PGCE. I am now 57 yrs old and I'm still loving every minute as a album producer, composer, arranger, performer, lecturer etc. Basically anything to do with music and any style. I love 'Happy", I just wish I could touch the the whole world like that super cool fabulous song!! So lastly, tq so much for all the comments. I'm so happy that after all these years new generations of music lovers are still finding this as funny as I did when we shot it. One request; the next time I do something like this I want to sit down to perform Chopin. If you stand up it is so bloody hard!!! All your weight on your left foot because you need your right foot for the sustain pedal. But at 14 yrs old, the world is a fantastic place and you just do it. No nerves at all. I'm from Leicester, but I've lived in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia for nearly 30 yrs because I love it hot, surrounded by wonderful people and woderful cultures, all blending seemlessly together. So inspiring!!!! Tq you all once more. Stay cool!! P.S My late dad in one brainy moment noticed that our family name Pochin is actually a anogram of Chopin! So I guess I just had to play the piano. Keep rocking guys!!!!!

Sorry, it should say the piano and violin parts are improvised ( not improved, 5am spelling!) I performed it this way to be totally free. Eyes closed, 'in the moment', trusting that the emotion will naturally reveal itself and be captured forever.

For all u guys who want to be a famous composer hear this; I just received my 2014 internet royalties for Pasti, Dugaanku, Penjara Kasih, etc for Ning, also for my songs for Shima,Datuk Shake, R.Kelly recorded one of my songs in L.A. Also I've even composed Nashid songs. Anyway this years internet royalties came to the wonderful total of RM24! Yes, you've got it, no zeros after the number! So I thought I would go wild and treat myself to to a KFC! What can you do with RM24? Millions are paid in, but how much really comes out? I remember my old school music teacher telling me that during the early 60's his pop song was played alot on the radio. Everytime it was played he received RM3. ( So in 1962 he was smiling all the way to the bank.) My point is this; UK is not a huge country like USA. but if u write a song that makes the top 40 you can retire! So to all the young aspiring composers in M'sia, you might want to sell heath insurance instead, because you'll make alot more money that way. Tq to all the fans who really love Ning's first two albums. Both albums won me the AIM best producer awards so as a foreigner in your really wonderful country, I feel so humbled. Tq again from the bottom of my heart. I really love you guys. Yours always sincerely, Johan Abdullah. (JP). 6.1.2015.

ok guys its like this. My name is Johan Abdullah (JP) This is my song (even though a recent RM100,000 talent show said somebody  I know very well produced and composed it. Some friend huh!!!)  I have the 'black & white' & every year just b4 Raya I get my royalties for all my songs.(Pasti. Dugaanku,& Penjara Kasih were probably the most famous.) I did all the parts live except for the drums & percussion which I programed. The studio was next to Sony offices(Ampang) All the parts were improvised because I know that when I hear that wonderful studio sound, I will perform so much better. (Inspirasi baby!!!) I had a great time recording it and Johari Teh who wrote the lyrics knew that the song had a chance, For us men, it's the closest thing to giving birth. The song is created, developed, complete & then goes out into the world. Where we hope good things will become of it. If anyone else claims to have composed this song, I will just ask them what the 2nd chord of the verse is! I'm sure they wouldn't know. Tq so much for enjoying my song  I'm truly humbled & touched..

Zubir was a wonderful man. He let me be totally free to arrange this great song as I felt it.So I followed my heart and here it is The violin & piano I improved live with the sampled fretless bass and I progremmed the drums & tuned procussion. The melody and harmonies took 4 hrs to record, but to me it all worth it. To me it is a unique, special song with a very real spiritual feel that still makes my hair stand even after all these years. It was recorded at King's studio and I loved every minute recording and mixing it. I am so touched that so many people feel the very real emotion in this time-less work. Tq all so much. Johan Abdullah (JP)
