Prior to tonight I could describe my times at hoigaards as ok but sadly all good things must come to and this is not something I found hoigaards immune too. As a fairly experienced skier I know one or two things about gear, after buying skiis online I brought them to hoigaards for bindings and was immediately sent to a sales person who prescribed me a pair of bindings I knew be slightly better than duct taping your boots to your skis, I politely declined those and chose a pair I knew to be of similar price and higher quality after then giving them my skis and paying them to be mounted I was given a receipt and promptly to to return in about a week and a half, tonight. Upon returning to puck up my skis I presented the receipt (which is what I was told all I needed to pick them up). I also informed them of the last name it was under, the time the order was placed, the exact make and model of both the skis and bindings and my valid drivers license. However I was laughed off and told to come back some other time seeing as though I was only 17 and not 18, even though I presented him with is of the exact same name that the order was under. This event highlights as everyone seeds of problems that could prove to ruin your ski shopping experience. When I bought the bindings I was told o could pick them up, therefore they have employees who either don't actually understand the rules of the establishment or several employees who work off their own agendas, disregarding the needs of the customers. My expletive shows inexperienced employees who don't know or interpret differently the rules of the place of the work, and work only with a self centered mindset. From my personal experience there are rules and regulations with hoigaards "ski buying" system that are inherently flawed and fail miserably in comparison to the much more efficient and structured ski purchase/mounting/ pickup system of vastly superior ski shops like pierce, the house, or even REI for God's sake. Although I have enjoyed hoigaards in the past it is on an easily recognizable slope diehard and am no longer to recommend hoigaards to any of my friends as long as I am in my right mind.

I needed to get my bike repaired on a few small things, and I usually go to Erik's, where a quick tune-up would come out to ~$74,and they'd keep my bike for a few days, but this time I looked online and found that Hoigaards would only charge $50. I took in my bike and they fixed everything right in front of me! Tightened up everything for free, and only charged $15 for re-calibrating my gears. Happy customer, do recommend. Very friendly staff.

Not renting cross country skis after a huge snow fall in December. Not willing to go the extra mile to rent them out to a customer only in town for a week. They admitted they don't even have skis waxed. Supervisor was icy in her response when pressed about the issue. Maybe it was bad timing on my part, or perhaps they are getting many calls about rentals when clearly winter has arrived and Hoigaards is unprepared out of the starting gate.

The staff was so knowledgeable and helpful. We went to look at snowboard gear for my son and he was given the time and attention needed to get him in equipment specific to his size and needs. The store was extremely busy that day but because of the awesome customer service, I ended up buying everything we needed from there, even though the plan was to head to a snowboard shop after that. The guys in the snowboard area know what the heck they're doing!!! Can't thank those guys enough.

My wife and I went into Hoigaard's for the first time to see if we could set her up with a downhill ski set for a deal. I jumped the gun and ordered mine online (remember this for later). We were able to get her a pair of skis, boots, poles and helmets for both of us all for 25% off. Gary Ball in the ski dept helped us out and didn't even give me crap for getting mine online. He was super knowledgeble and didn't push us towards higher end skis we didn't need. She loves her ski's! Onto myself. I brought in my skis and boots and bindings to get mounted when they arrived via UPS. I asked Gary about the boot size I ordered and he promised me they were a size and a half too big. As a bummer as it was, I trusted his opinion. Unfortunately all shops around town were out of that boot in my size. They offered to call the manufacturer and another store in Milwaukee for me to find them. (Even though I still hadn't purchased anything from them). They ended up finding them and shipped them next day air. Overall I was blown away by the prices, the knowledge of the staff, and the amazing customer service even to a person who didn't originally give them my business. I'm heading there tonight to pick up my completed skis. Hoigaard's has made me a lifetime customer!
