Still learning this G+ thing!

I had a great time last week with +Eliana Murillo and a group of friends during the +AARP launch of Life Reimagined. Even got to hang out with Emilio Estefan! But on a serious note, it's great to see this initiative since our abuelas are so young and strong.  Ask mami while she tries to start her own blog! She only takes it when she gets upset and wants to preach about "El niñito Jesus" - but I've made it a point not to intervene and let her own her voice.  Now I know what she's doing: Reimagining her Life in 2013!

A must read

Released a study for Sprint Latino this am in partnership with INSPIRE!

We looked at how Latina Moms are managing the cellphone usage of their children. Younger and younger latino kids are getting cellphones with most Latino kids getting phones by 12 and as young as 5. Cellphones definitely help Latina Moms to parent but they also create a new parenting challenges. Let us know what your experiences have been like managing your children cellphone usage at  #SprintLatino

Excellent article. Si que se puede carajo! Thank you for making the statement so eloquently Marjoriet.
I don't mean to be harsh on the new Devious Maids series.  In fact I promised everyone who called me from the channel and the production that I'll stop complaining until I see the content.  I do hope however that it's not another insult to all the smart Latinas out there who are trying to kill the stereotype that mainstream media has been imposing on us for decades.  Our daughters need positive role models, inspiration and women who look like them in top positions.  The best part is that we're getting to those positions but still being pictured as putas or maids (now bad maids to make it worst).
I do want to add something for the maids in our community.  My tias, my cousins all worked hard to raise a family cleaning toilets and getting up at 4 am to let the ejecutivos find their offices impeccable. They did it so we could all seat where we seat today.  We are the ejecutivas.  It is our responsibility to fight with dignity these negative images.  When the Dominican nanny allegedly killed the two kids, over 800 Latina nannies lost their job the very next day.  So these images do have a negative effect on ALL of us now and tomorrow.  I just wish that the same level of exposure the one killer gets would be the same level of news our strong Latinas like Dr. Angelica, Mariela Dabbah, Yesi Morillo get when they start their movements. The Unidas "Por Fin" makes huge sense.  Only together we can turn this crap around.  Com'on Mujeres! we can change that. A que no? +Angelica Perez-Litwin +Mariela Dabbah +yessi murillo +Viviana HurtadoPhD +Maria Castro +Jeannette Kaplun +Lisa Quinones-Fontanez
