#Housekeepers are at high risk of #musculoskeletal and repetitive-stress injuries because of the daily demands of the job, including moving heavy carts, linen and mattresses, as well as using awkward postures and repetitive motions.

Statistics continue to show hotel employees have higher injury rates than other service workers. Housekeeper injury rates are even higher, with nearly 8 percent of housekeepers experiencing injuries each year, compared to about 5 percent of all hotel employees. #Lawyer #California #Settlement #WorkersComp

#MarketWatch is reporting a recent study that found #opioid use increased length of disability following a work accident while offering questionable benefits to those injured on the job.

The study was conducted by researchers at the Workers Compensation Research Institute in #Cambridge, Mass., the Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, N.H. and the Department of Economics at the University of California, Irvine. It found long-term opioid use roughly tripled employer costs for temporary disability benefits, compared to those suffering similar injuries who were not prescribed opioids. Researchers found no evidence that opioid prescriptions were beneficial to injured workers. #SanDiego #California #WorkersComp #Lawyer #Settlement

There are many ways in which #SanDiego #workers can injure their eyes while on the job. Eye injuries can lead to permanent damage that can impair a worker’s vision for the rest of his or her life. This is why it is important for employers to provide comprehensive eye safety training that addresses all potential eye hazards in the workplace.

#Safety equipment (such as goggles, face shields, and other necessary protection) should be readily available to all workers who are placed at risk of eye injuries. It is also important for workers to educate themselves about the hazards they face and how best to reduce the risk of sustaining an eye injury.

Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA) introduced a bill to Congress last month that would direct OSHA to issue rules to prevent workplace violence in healthcare facilities. The bill would bring to the nation a law that went into effect here in California last year.

There are many different types of toxins that can cause a worker to develop asthma symptoms. For example, cleaning products, disinfectants, antibiotics, and latex are all prevalent in healthcare settings, which might explain the elevated asthma death rate for women employed in this industry. Welding fumes and chemicals found in paint are prevalent on and around construction sites, and they can contribute to the increased asthma death rate for men employed in that industry.

Asthma is a common ailment that affects many Americans. It can also be misunderstood. Some people mistakenly believe that it is a childhood disease, or that the symptoms are merely inconvenient and never dangerous. The reality is that asthma causes thousands of deaths across the United States every year.

Asthma can also be caused by exposure to toxins in the workplace. Workers who develop asthma as a result of workplace exposure have the right to be compensated. A San Diego workers' compensation attorney can help workers protect their legal rights.

Workers who sustain workplace injuries as a result of the chaos of the holiday shopping scene should speak to a San Diego workers' compensation attorney, who can explain the no-fault workers' compensation system of recovering benefits for medical expenses and lost wages.
