Very much enjoyed this Bistro, which has two sides breakfast side and dinner/lunch dining upstairs and down. Especially like the Sunday brunch atmosphere love the old building with high ceilings and lots of light from outside. One of the few establishments that serves bottles of champagne for breakfast..with Guava, orange, grapefruit juices on the side;) The breakfast menu is Mediterranean/Spanish with some Cuban influences there is also a make your own bloody Mary bar. There is a wait, but worth it for eating and dining during the morning hours. Some of the staff members seemed disheveled as well as dazed and confused. If this doesn't bother you, you will enjoy the experience; if it does you will become rather frustrated with service.

One of my favorite places to eat! I have yet to find a dish I don't love.

Lunch on Saturday was tapas and great... But breakfast across the hall on Sunday was PHENOMINAL...pork hash off the charts... Marnie did great job waiting on us while they were slammed.

We used San Chez for a large group of global guests. The catering coordinator was extremely helpful in setting the menu and making sure there were plenty of vegetarian options. A very positive experience. Beyond that, there was a miscommunication on our end regarding the date of the event. The group called to confirm within one hour of their arrival and the staff made it happen even though it wasn't booked correctly. Our guests had a seamless experience. San Chez really went above and beyond and we were so grateful. I don't recommend putting them in that position of course, but it says a lot that they made the effort! Great group of people.

We went to the San Chez Cafe for Breakfast while staying at a downtown hotel. Living in Chicago my standards are pretty high and Sanchez definitely delivered! Table service mimosas with a chilled bottle of champagne and carafe of OJ. Monte Cristo French Toast - Was out of this world, sweet, savory and smokey. Very rich so I recommend sharing with a pal. Cubed French baguette, ham, sausage, bacon, chorizo & smoked cheddar cheese tossed in a cinnamon custard batter. Baked in a cast iron skillet with maple syrup 7.9 Fried Egg-n-Cheese Grits - Were a little runny but had great flavor. Manchego cheese grits, zucchini & wilted spinach topped with a seasoned fried egg* 4.99 Will definitely be back when in the area!

I love San Chez. Last time we (2) shared two small plates and the grilled asparagus and were full. The lamb chops were lovely if a bit greasy and came with just a tiny salad, The tender beef, on the other hand, came with a rich tortellini and I highly recommend it. The service was also above par. Best tapas in the state.

A favorite Grand Rapids eatery for more than a decade. The food is consistently excellent.

Good, friendly service. But the food is third world. Mealy tenderloin, sour cremini mushrooms with cheap cheddar...not to mention your average tapas plate runs at $12, leaving you staring at an $80 bill for good service, spacious but ketchy atmosphere, and overpriced food. Avoid.
