Watch this.  All of it.  Yes you, the one back there thinking that they don't care about "women's issues" because it doesn't affect them.  It does.  And it matters.

If you aren't a feminist after watching this, I don't know what to think...

Linus Torvalds gets a Pixel, the Pixel gets full support in the mainline kernel within a week or so.  What a coincidence!

Pixel update: current git now gets you a pretty complete experience (ie the touchpad works).

And I pushed out the Pixel changes from the Pixel.

That said, there's a few oddities still, related to it not being a normal PC. +David Miller is working on getting the keyboard mapping DTRT automatically, and there's something wrong with suspend.

Yeah, you can.  I have a Cr-48 (though I don't use it any more, as the wireless card on it failed) and I got regular programs usable a few ways; first I just installed Linux programs directly into the Chrome OS filesystem, which worked fine but was rather messy, then I had an Ubuntu chroot on the SD card so that I could run programs from there. Eventually I just uninstalled Chrome OS entirely and switched to archlinux though; frankly Chrome OS doesn't give you anything that you don't get with Linux + Chrome, and the latter is a lot more flexible.

Happy International Women's Day. To honor the role of women in science, today we will post pictures of SETI Institute women scientists.

Emacs outshines all other editing software in approximately the same way that the noonday sun does the stars. It is not just bigger and brighter; it simply makes everything else vanish.
