Come and Sing...the Carols of John Rutter
29th November 10am - 6pm
Northampton High School
Newport Pagnell Rd, NN4 6UU Northampton, Northamptonshire

In advance of his seventieth birthday year, the Northampton Bach Choir celebrate John Rutter’s unique gift for the Christmas carol. Fifty years separate his earliest composition, the Shepherd’s Pipe Carol and his most recent carol, Christ is the morning star, but Rutter’s melodic gift proves as eloquent and natural today as it has always been; his music is a joy for singer and listener alike.

The “Come and Sing” day will include a wide selection of Rutter’s most popular carols, alongside three new ones: All Bells in Paradise, Christ is the morning star, and The Colours of Christmas. We will also discover carols from the next generation of composers who are influenced by Rutter’s effortless melodic flair – especially the rising star, Dan Forrest. The workshop will be led by leading conductor, Lee Dunleavy, whose skilful and easy-going approach appeals equally to those who are new to choral singing and the experienced.

Our John Rutter Carols Day begins with registration from 10:00am, the first session beginning at 10:30am, and the day concluding at 4:00pm. Northampton High School is located on the Newport Pagnall Road just off junction 15 of the M1 (postcode NN4 6UU); the school has excellent facilities, including easy access and plentiful parking.

PLACES ARE LIMITED so please book ASAP! You can download the booking form direct from our website!

Lest We Forget Nov 2014   An excellent concert: a huge orchestra and a massive choir - bags of sound and fury in the Verdi, tenderness in the Mozart and all the oohs and aahs in the right place for the Williams. Thanks to all our friends from Marburg and Poitiers. We hope they enjoyed the evening as much as we did.  In all there were 140 singers performing  with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, players from NMPAT, Elin Manahan Thomas and John Griff!   263 on stage.
