Guisado's has everything I love. I love stewed meats. For some reason, it is just the food that works for me more than almost any other kind. I also love tacos, especially on a good thick homemade tortilla. Guisado's combines these things to great success. On Saturday night I waited in a moderate line, probably about 10 minutes deep, for four tacos and an "Armando Palmeiro" (limonada mixed with jamaica). I ate two cochinita pibil tacos, one chicken mole poblano taco, and one bisteca taco with salsa roja. Three would have been enough for me, generally, because they are pretty substantial. The cochinita tacos were my favorite - served quite spicy (though they will moderate this if you want), with a perfect tenderness to the meat, though with possibly a slightly higher sauce to meat ratio than I might normally prefer. I didn't really care though, because the sauce's rich texture and complex flavor definitely worked for me. The other tacos were great too - the chicken mole had that smoky, bittersweet flavor that you hope for in a mole poblano, and the bisteca was meaty and again had this wonderful dissolving texture. The sampler my wife ordered came with six very small tacos, and I'd recommend that for a first time visit just to get an array of their offerings. I would have ordered that myself if she had not. Oh, I should mention that the horchata she ordered was among the best I've ever had. We sat outside on the patio, under strings of lights and colorful murals on the wall. I loved everything about this meal, and I'm going to be back often.

Tacos! What can I say that no one else has about the tacos here. They are awesome. My favorite is the chicken tinga, followed by the steak picado, and the cochinita pibil. I really like the tortillas. They taste really fresh and homemade. I also tried the horchata when I came in. Really good. They also have vegetarian options. And yes, an establishment that borders Silverlake and has vegetarian options, that can mean one thing: hipsters. They will be there. The dining area is small with a really big communal table, which is pretty cool. They also have an outside patio. There is a small lot but there is a lot of free street parking if you can't find a spot there.

Extremely affordable for amazing homemade tortillas and unique, delicious flavors. I've tried pretty much all the flavors here. My favorites are the chorizo, quesadilla, mole poblano (chicken), cochinita pibil (pork) and tinga de pollo (chicken). The pescado (fish) and camarones (shrimp) are good but not great. I stick to my favorites. The ones I stay away from are the chicharron (texture disgusts me) and spicy items such as chuleta en chile verde (pork), bistek en salsa roja (steak) and steak picado (steak). IF YOU'RE NEW: get the SAMPLER PLATE (6 tacos) because this will give you a chance to try out the different flavors offered here. The sampler gives you the first six flavors listed on the menu. If you wanted to substitute one for another, you can -- just let them know! This location gets packed but it definitely moves quickly. The parking lot is EXTREMELY small so you're better off with the ample street parking the surrounding area offers.

I was on a quest to find the best Mexican food and let me tell you I found it here, well its def one of the best. I was there on a Friday night there was only a small line out the door, I started a conversation with the guy behind me he was a chef from San Francisco who was in town and couldn't stop talking about how great the food was here, wow a chef from a foodie city was talking about how great it was before I ordered, wow. So when I saw the menu my first impression was wow there is a lot of choices, the people in front of me had been here plenty of times and were also talking about how great the place is. Well when it was my time to order I ordered the Sampler and the Fish Taco, total was around 11 bucks. I should have ordered only the Sampler the Sampler is enough food trust me and the tacos are fairly large so don't order 4 like you do with the smaller tacos. Once I got seated in the back I took my first bite wow this was amazing the stewed meats were so moist you could taste it in every bite and you could also taste how the tortillas were made there fresh it had that very noticible in house tortilla taste which was awesome. The variety of flavors you get from the sampler will leave you talking about it for quite some time, my friend told me he was going to take a date there and the next week he did. Overall highly recommend this is a place you must try and maybe it will be your favorite spot, it isn't one of those dimly lit places its more of that casual dining vibe kinda like a pinks as far as the seating so it might not replace your sit down slow Mexican spot. NOTE THE BOYLE HEIGHTS LOCATION CLOSES AT 8PM THIS ONE WAS 10PM. Accidentally went there first.

Clean, welcoming location. Amazing horchata and tried all the different tacos. All were so succulent and savory, with a slight kick. The freshly-made tortillas needed a bit more grilling. Did not need to add any sauce to any of the tacos. Definitely order the fish, mole, and pork!

What I love about these tacos is that it taste like home. You make a delicious carne guisada the night before and the next day you eat the yummy leftovers in a tortilla. Only that the tortillas at guisados are not store bought tortillas they're delicios yellow corn, thick, freshly homemade goodies. And the drinks are great too!

I love guisados! We always get the sampler plate, which is six different small tacos because I love a little variety. The service is always great and they never mind explaining to me which taco is which. Parking is pretty bad but so worth it! Try the Armando Palmero, which is jamaica and limon juices. The quesedilla is great as well.
