If a man abandons his family for the good of the country (or community) will he be considered as ethical?

Concept of "Karma" absolves you from your moral duty to help a person in trouble, because if you don't help him, he will be in distress which would be the result of some bad deeds he must have done earlier ( his karma ) and so you are not responsible for his grief. "Not helping" is not a sin and hence not punishable... Your opinion?

Sajid Bijapure: Is Karma "true", a real external force? or is it a supposed constructive, an outdated philosophical question, a product of bad language mode? These are interesting questions in their own right.
But does a believer in the concept "You reap as you sow" find any difficulty in deciding whether it is his duty to help or not? Can this belief help him mitigate his guilt for not helping when he could have helped? Won't he find the concept going against the ethical point that it is his duty to help others? Wouldn't his idea of a "responsible-citizen" be totally different from what we are taught nowadays?

ANDY LOL: I dont' think is important if something is true or false in binary term, what is the differtent if people believe?

God is not demostrable, but what about effect in life people believe God exist or not?

Existence God and effect believe God is really something deeply different? I sometimes ask.

Are two different levels, but i see connection, it's reason why i'm ok with concept of metaphysic because it seem to me we can't avoid to create lot fo real effects starting from something dont' seem to exist really in physicall terms (reason we have idea, with chimical elements or whatever, and idea itself like a sort of air change mind other people and enter in the others, seem to me not simple to handle without add metaphysic concept)

When you believe an idea mean nothing ask if is true or false, since effect believe idea work in any case, and i would not surprise if it would work in same way.

Ideas i think are theorically false and true same time and effect you see depend a choice.

Reason your choice is in your history and pheraps what we can call a sum of spiritual experiences.

Exist nothing that accept or refuse something that in both cases work inside you also it this thing dont' exist in a precise physicall term.

About phylosophical position, i think there is somethng intresting in idea, in meaning there is wisdow, but these depend if both people are in same line of meaning and prespective your action (same action is not same action in different mind prespective).

If people are not in same meaning misundarstanding inside you is misunderstanding effect ouside you.

Rajesh K: Karma is portrayed like a double edge sword. Karma is YOUR actions. What YOU do is YOUR karma. You don't have the right to judge other peoples karma. You dont have the right to judge others. you can only judge YOUR OWN ACTIONS not others. Your good Karma will reap you good benefits and your bad karma will give you $hit. It's your own balance sheet for life from universe. Keep it balanced my friend!

The judiciary (also known as the judicial system or court system) is the system of courts that interprets and applies the law in the name of the state. The judiciary also provides a mechanism for the resolution of disputes (wiki).
Since judiciary deals with laws and mechanisms, can we entrust it completely to Artificial Intelligence, doing away with human judges ?

Mats Winther: Yes, but if the defendant didn't know that, then he is acquitted, because it is the motif that counts in Western moral code and legislation (unlike in Islamic law). In Western law you are acquitted even if you kill people unknowingly, provided that it's not due to negligence and that you lack motif. For example, an American man sleep-walked and stabbed to death his parents-in-law. He was acquitted.

Sajid Bijapure: This western moral code can be encoded in AI too. Simply put, if it is a code, then it can be encoded.

Mats Winther: No, it isn't coded in law. Western law builds on moral judgement on part of judge and jury. If the man he saved was an escapee serial murderer. What then? Moral judgement is not discrete but a continuous spectrum, and therefore it cannot be intellectually coded.

What is the purpose of justice?

Is it reasonable to expect justice from anyone or anywhere? Why do authorities make an attempt to define what is just and then provide justice to citizens?

Sajid Bijapure: In my personal opinion, a ruler provides justice so that people will not revolt against him and allow him to rule a little longer. If he is sure they won't revolt, he finds justice has no purpose and "injustice" is done.

Can a king of a geographical are be patriotic?
I think a king can only consider his country as his personal property and is ready to fight and die for his country just as one is ready to fight for his personal property. This is completely different from the patriotism that an ordinary soldier or citizen feels.
Here you may replace 'king' by any type of 'head of the state'.

Michael Stafford: +Matthew Rapaport I just looked it up. There are more "In Vatican City, Brunei, Swaziland, Saudi Arab and Oman absolute power is vested in a single person and the monarch is the head of the state as well as the government. Qatar is also an absolute monarch."

Sajid Bijapure: We know how patriotic a citizen or soldier can get ... when motivated, but can a ruler also be equally patriotic? Or is it impossible to be a leader and a patriot at the same time?

Justin Elkin: I see the distinction you'd like to suggest +Sajid Bijapure and say the question needs to be considered on a "king" by "king" basis. In short, it is possible for a leader to be both in my opinion. George Washington for instance.
