This is the second book in this series and has a very different feel from the first one had a light innocent feel, even though the subject was anything but, whereas this one feels dark and foreboding. I was given this book by Real Readers to review and it grabbed me from the first chapter and has held me hostage trying to work out who the killer was. This book can be read as a standalone as the only carry over is Ians marriage woes. There is a theme running through this of perception of reality (it was domestic abuse/violence in book 1) from the warped mind of the killer to the little lies and fantasies the characters tell themselves to make life better. The very best thing about this book is that I didn't guess who the killer was, I had no clue at all but when the reveal happened I thought it was genius. The only bit of the plot I was ahead of the curve on was Ians marriage. I look forward to book 3 so I can find out what happens with Bev, Ian's wife, next.

I really didn't know if I would like this because I love the film so know the books story. What I found was a familiar story that was exciting and has held my interest it is just different enough from the film I know and love to be held apart and enjoyed in it's own right. The book develops slowly and all the early breadcrumbs set us up for a rollercoaster ride when they get to the island, the has kept me on the edge of my seat and with my heart in my mouth and blowing the film out the water. The book was far more frightening because it portrayed a believable scenario that has a foot firmly in scientific possibility.

This little book was a little piece of chocolate just enough for a mouthful. Just like chocolates you can't get enough, but too much and you feel a bit sick. This is the first in this series and I like what I have read so far. Don't let the fact they are short fool you there are deep interesting characters that pull you in and make you love them but a word to the wise read with a fire extinguisher handy you will need it that and maybe a change of your unmentionables, I look forward to reading more I think I might be going to overload on these yummy little treats.

I loved this it was a great opener to a series there are those who say this is a rip off of Lora Liegh's breed series but apart from them being secret experiments and hot love stories that's where the similarities end for me. Yes they have a homeland and are self governing but New Species have no involvement with them But for funding. OK back to what I thought about this book. I loved the dynamic between Ellie and Fury it was intense and made for exciting reading. We were introduced to a wonderful cast of characters that were diverse and interesting and I have loved getting to know them I plan on reading all of the books available and as soon as I can. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves a damn good story.
