In 2011 under half of all US violent crimes were solved. Watch this video on how ending the #warondrugs could help http://virg.in/bpo

So, I just tried to watch a video that I found here on G+

...and I discovered - with much surprise - that it was a LIVE talk, broadcast through Google Hangout.

That's not something that happens on Facebook.

:: sigh ::

Genius is often said to be close to madness.

But researchers now claim to have found evidence that creativity is directly linked to mental illness.

Wow. If wilw can have days like this, then it must not be so bad after all...

Yeah, this is one of those days when my stupid goddamn depression and anxiety make me want to just crawl back into bed and hide from the world.

The really frustrating thing is, there’s no good reason for it to be like this. It’s been a great week, it’s going to be a wonderful weekend, and we’re FINALLY getting some work done on the house we’ve wanted to have done since March. Everything is awesome, but my brain is still MMMMMARRAAAHHH today.

I guess I’m posting this as a reminder to my fellow depression havers: even when there’s no good reason for our brains to make us have a MMMMMARRAAAHHH day, sometimes it happens. It will get better. It will pass. Depression lies, and sometimes it just screams MMMMMARRAAAHHH at us because it’s a dick.

another self-diagnosis:

I love books. Not surprising from someone who's written two of 'em.

But every book love, perhaps secretly, has to deal with the problem of tsundoku. Buying books and not reading them; letting books pile up unread on shelves or floors or nightstands.

The illustration below is by a 12 yr old, it was posted on reddit. http://goo.gl/u8Bwi I believe it captures the situation beautifully.

My thought originally was to move everything to my Google Books account, then its on every device, all sync'ed up, and I never have to worry about having killed trees (just bits and bytes!).

But it is not that simple. I love actual books. It is nice to have them around, and to hold them when you actually read them. So now I have to deal with tsundoku. A part of my wife's solution is the use them to support flower vases etc. I have to admit hardcover books under vases do add a touch of class. And, remind me I still have to read the books. :)
