Investment Opportunities in Utah
For some time now the state of Utah has been witnessing all round growth. The fact that it has one of the fastest growing populations in the country brings in its wake plenty of opportunity besides a few challenges. Considering the fact that the state is set to double its population by the year 2040, there is tremendous need for investment in the transportation infrastructure segment. Then there will of course be substantial investment required in the residential and educational infrastructure as well to cater to the needs of the rising population.

The government of Utah is doing their all to encourage and facilitate this. An instance of this is its policy of granting US EB-5 visas to individuals who seek to invest in the state. Similarly the Utah Educational Savings Plan (USEP) lets one choose from among 14 investment options. These range from one’s own tailor made selection of mutual funds invested in stocks and bonds to a savings account that has been insured by FDIC.

Utah will also require massive investment in tackling environmental issues. This assumes critical importance in light of the fact that the number of people settling in the state continues to rise. Ensuring that the quality of life continues to be of a very high standard requires that one take these issues seriously and make the necessary infrastructure upgrade. Take for example the problem of the proliferation of algae blooms in water on account of excessive nitrogen and phosphorus in the state’s waterways. The cost of upgrading the wastewater treatment equipment to deal with this would be $1.2 billion.

There is universal agreement that Utah requires investment, but the question to ask is- what do the investors say? By all accounts they give it big thumbs up on account of its robust economic indicators and great demographic profile. Potential investors look at the facts:

Among the best places in the US to do business.
Youngest population of all states.
Extremely well educated workforce.
Well connected by air, road and rail.
Low taxes.
Low cost of power
Low rate of unemployment.
Low cost of commercial and residential real estate.
Low crime rate.
World class colleges and universities.
Utah scores big on all parameters and this is reflected in more and more people deciding to settle in the state. The best part of this influx is the profile of the people-well heeled and highly educated. They are expected to provide an even greater asset to the state’s economy given their background.

Truly Utah definitely ranks right there at the top as a place which would attract a fair amount of investment. This is purely merit driven as the state’s plus points are visible to everyone, and Governor’s office is doing a great job too selling Utah’s success story to the right people. Not only that- they are taking proactive measures to ensure that those who plan to invest here are given all the necessary assistance in doing so.

Park City: Strong economic prospects and excellent demographics attract buyers

Park City, the winter sport destination nonpareil, is seeing more and more people exploring options to buy property. The fact that the state of Utah is outperforming the other states by setting a blistering pace of economic growth, and Park City’s own demographic advantages have combined to present it as a prime destination for property investors.

There were always very good reasons to invest in Park City in the past. These included factors like easy accessibility ( only half an hour’s drive from Salt Lake City), and stellar recreational opportunities ( three world class ski resorts, award winning designer golf courses and the best and the most extensive mountain trails in the world for riding, mountain biking and trekking). Plus, the property prices Park City have traditionally been lower than other ski resort towns.
