Lol, my dad bought me erector sets. He and I did not know that these were "boys toys", he just wanted to give me my own tools and parts so I'd quit raiding his garage. I also developed my spatial skills, and I was really confused when I heard about females being worse at spatial reasoning. I was never affected by the girl-toy boy-toy thing, but I also got more variety because my parents didn't impose a lot of gender norms on me. Sterling definitely has a point, but it might also help just to give more girls kinex and erector sets. I don't remember anything on the label that says "THIS IS FOR BOYS". Still, smarter toys marketed specifically to girls certainly won't hurt anyone, and I'd love to see them on the shelves. Anything is better than all the princess and creepy baby doll garbage.
