No, it isn't.Jun 6, 2012
It's as simple as the fact that all official communications in the ubuntu.com page and copy are in British English, whereas Launchpad project names are not subject to that rule.
software-center is simply a Launchpad id. The name of the application itself can be translated to any language already. So you'll notice that on a desktop with an British English locale it is "Software Centre", on one with a US English locale it is "Software Center", on one with a Catalan locale it is "Centre de programari", etc.Jun 6, 2012
I'm fine with software-center being software-center. Computers have always spoken American to me. We live in happier times now and can enjoy properly localized programs and desktops. Who cares what the package name of 'gimp' is as long as the Software Center offers you "The GIMP Image Manipulation Program" in your own tongue?Jun 6, 2012
+David Planella +Alan Pope +Juha Siltala another example is Ubuntu One, still say "One" where people don't read English ?Jun 6, 2012
+Adnane Belmadiaf, Ubuntu One is still Ubuntu one. Dropbox is Dropbox, Microsoft Windows is Windows, and Toyota is Toyota. :-)Jun 6, 2012
+Juha Siltala that's what i am trying to say from the beginning, Ubuntu Software Center is Ubuntu Software Center and not Ubuntu 软件中心Jun 6, 2012
