A modern American History Museum in Tacoma Washington. Just minutes from Seattle WA, our museum was opened to preserve the history and technology of the automobile and its influence on America.

We absolutely loved it! But they were missing a lot of cars (need more muscle cars, corvettes, cobra, etc). The staff was helpful and nice. It took them a little long to make a cup of coffee, but it tasted good and the staff was still nice. We missed all the signs saying that there were designated beverages areas, but the security guard was pretty nice about it. Pretty awesome place. You do have to pay to park there though. If parking were free and they had more variety they would have had 5. Which I could say 4.5 stars. Definitely worth checking out!

Amazing. Beautifully laid-out building. Very accessible. Fun stuff for kids. An amazing collection. Book off like 4 hrs to get everything in. There's an F1 racing simulator that will knock your socks off.

Excellent display with vehicles in amazing condition. The Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable on history and trivia on the vehicles. Car enthusiasts could easily spend a few hours inside. Highly recommended.

The on the ground, in the museum, in the car views from my note 4 was awesome! Superb interactive site. I will certainly pay a visit with these magnificent classic displays.

I anticipated the opening of Lemay and made a trip from Victoria B.C.in fall 2013. I have visited The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Mich., and for cars, the ACM is just as impressive. Starting with the design of the museum itself, it's a perfect homage to the timber history of the Northwest. The main hall is constructed with laminated Western Cedar beams and cedar wall panelling, creating a soaring unimpeded display space. The effect is breathtaking as you enter the main exhibit hall. Then, the concrete ramps down to lower levels with their own special theme exhibits, displayed with large flat-screen videos, is a brilliant low-cost approach (cheap to construct like a parking garage) to layout a museum space. The collection, many from the late Harold LeMay's own "garage" (largest private collection in the world at one point), plus loans from private owners, is, as they say, "world class". It's a must for car enthusiasts. And there're lots of other attractions in the Tacoma area. It's a best-kept tourism secret!

I've been here before and loved the autos for the most part. The staff however is unreachable. The automated phone answering machine volume is set so low that it is barely detectable. Further, it is impossible to reach a human via the menu. After attempting all day I resolved to calling the cafe' and reached someone who was unable to answer my questions. She then forwarded my call to the front desk or so she said. After 10 min of dead silence I hung up. Very frustrating as my handicapped parents are in from out of town and I needed some information from the museum prior to arrival. As it stands we'll be going somewhere else. For the record, as I've since found out, they do not have any wheelchairs to rent or borrow so bring your own or don't bother showing up. They wont be going, and I'll be removing the museum from my traveler recommendations list. Can't bother to answer the phone... really?

Awesome. But still annoyed you pay $5 to use the parking lot and another $16 to get in.
