Worldview and Philosophical Apologetics Class
Thursday Nights Beginning January 16, 2014 @ 7pm
Irvine Community Church
(No Cost to Attend)

"It's true for you but not for me."
"Religious talk is meaningless. It doesn't report on facts."
"Just stick to what works and helps in your own life and you will be fine."
"Everyone believes in things they want to be true."
"There is no hard evidence for God, therefore I remain a skeptic."

Ever hear comments like these? These comments stem from one's worldview. We all have a worldview and encounter other worldviews on a daily basis. How are we to think about these worldviews and the philosophy that empowers them? How do we respond to these comments?

Our diverse and rapidly changing culture continues to reflect deeply rooted views such as Skepticism, Secular Humanism, Naturalism, Logical Positivism, Pragmatism, Existentialism, Postmodernism, Relativism, Pluralism, The Problem of Evil, and more. In this class, we will learn to engage these views and learn how to respond to comments from these views.

While many skeptics criticize Christians for being simple-minded and gullible, Christians actually have compelling arguments for the existence of God through sound reason. With cogent logic, the claims of "irrational belief" are dismantled and belief in God becomes highly rational.

But how is it possible to conclude that God exists just through reasoning? We will discover and learn to harness the Top 5 "Most Compelling Arguments for the Existence of God."
The class is for both the Christian and non-Christian who hopes to deepen his understanding of why and how Christians believe the things they do. Apologetics is the study of how and why the Christian faith is grounded in truth through reason and evidence which can bring down the walls of unbelief.
This class is brought to you by and the School of Biblical and Jewish Studies SBJS.

7:00pm to 8:45pm (with a 10 minute break for snacks; feel free to bring dinner in if running late)
The class will run from January 16th to approximately mid April.

The class will be located at Irvine Community Church in the fellowship hall.
