Dr. Ozgur Cakmak (Penn State) will talk about Trapping Solar Energy with Nanotechnology and opportunities for IUP students at Penn State on Friday, Nov 11.

The detailed information:
Dr. Atilla Ozgur Cakmak (PSU/CNEU) is the featured speaker for Physics Colloquium on Fri, Nov 11 at 2:30 pm in Weyandt 331. The title of the talk is 'Mission Impossible: Trapping the Sun with Nanotechnology in Solar Cells'

Energy output from Sun is the best resource with greatest potentials to help meet the global-energy needs. The speaker from Penn State University/CNEU in his presentation will discuss importance of the nanostructures for light trapping for designing ultra-thin novel solar cells.

The multi-disciplinary research opportunities in nanotechnology, which enable the driving force for research in solar cells at Penn State University will be presented. Other supportive steps like 1-year, non-thesis Master's degree at Penn State, and an NMT capstone semester are new to this program.
