So I went to see 26 Apple Street in Brockville today and it was a stunner. You would love it James! Foot high baseboards, 12 foot high ceilings on both floors, beautiful staircase. Needs a new roof! Built in 1834! https://brockvillehistoryhandbook.wordpress.com/2012/11/

So why do I like this house? Well I will post the link to the listing so you can see that a) it needs work and b) it looks like they put horrible vinyl siding on it. This poor baby needs some help but it could be beautiful!

Nice 1854 Centre Hall plan with water views and access! Gorgeous porch! Looks like there are some original floor boards in the front rooms as well as an original fireplace. Too much replacement of the floors with laminate upstairs. What do you think of their decision to use laminate?

And one more tip. We ran into this issue at a historic site I was working at. Always make your mortar match the time period!

So I am interested in a property in Eastern Ontario. It is old (of course) and is a stone building that has had a brick front to it. Not a marriage made in heaven. Of course there are step cracks where the two join. So I'm researching wall construction!
