Despite the rise in popularity of credit and debit cards across the globe, #Kenya is still very much a cash society. Even in the major cities of the country (#Nairobi, Mombasa and #Kisumu), people settle most of their bills in hard cash. All this is thanks to the country’s relatively low undeveloped banking system.

Since the #KenyaShilling (Ksh) is the only currency accepted in Kenya, you should look for the best form of travel money to take to the country...

#CORD principal #RailaOdinga has dismissed as a ploy the pay cut by the President, Deputy President and the Cabinet. He said it is a trick to cover up the inefficiencies of the #Jubileegovernment.

Raila: "The Jubilee administration has failed to bring down the high cost of living, fight rampant corruption in government and create employment. The President #Uhuru and Deputy President #WilliamRuto do not understand how to run an economy."

My attention has been drawn to the move by CORD principals and other leaders from Western Kenya to criticise a decision taken by President #UhuruKenyatta and his deputy #WilliamRuto to cut their salaries by 20 per cent, terming it populist.

It is unfair when the same leaders claim that the move was meant to make other civil servants take salary cuts. CORD’s reaction is an indication that they are jealous of the score Uhuru has earned from the pay cut move. #CORD principals #RailaOdinga and #KalonzoMusyoka served in the last Government and they should tell Kenyans what they did instead of opposing every move taken by the #Jubilee administration.

The #FirstLady of #Kenya, #MargaretKenyatta, participated on 9 March in the First Lady’s #halfmarathon to raise awareness and resources for the ‘Beyond Zero’ campaign—an initiative to stop new #HIV infections among children and improve the lives of mothers.

More than 30 000 participants including cabinet secretaries, members of the parliament, governors and their spouses, professional athletes, diplomatic corps and #UnitedNations representatives took part in the 21-kilometre run in #Nairobi, Kenya.

Deputy President #WilliamRuto has asked the Orange Democratic Movement (#ODM) to give the Jubilee government time to implement its manifesto. Reacting to recent remarks by ODM leader #RailaOdinga who said that the Jubilee government needs advice from the opposition on how to manage national issues, #Ruto said they have a comprehensive plan on how to move the country forward and don’t need help from anyone “Our Government has an all-inclusive plan to transform #Kenya by eliminating poverty, opening up job opportunities for the youth and reducing the cost of living through enhanced food production and we have what it takes to attain that,” he stated.

#WilliamRuto was once a teacher
Even though he is the current deputy president of #Kenya, William #Ruto has come a long way. Before joining politics, he worked as a teacher at Sirgoi secondary school and Kamagut secondary school. As a teacher, his students will always remember him as an astute individual who desired the best for everyone.

He is married and has six children
William Ruto is married to #RachelRuto. He met his wife at the university (#UoN) where she was training a teacher. They are blessed with six children.
