Diamond Age is nominated for an NZ Open Source award on the 12th of November at Te Papa, Wellington for our 3D printers. Then we're finally off on our World Tour of New Zealand, covering the Mainland and the Smaller Island. So if you want us to demo, build, sell or hack a 3D printer with you, let us know and we'll include a stop at your place.

Vik vs Android round 2: The HTC Desire 300. Currently wading through a lot of "sign up here[cancel]" and 404 Not Founds. Getting root should not be this hard!

No root yet, using n00b technology and not signing anything. If I sign up at the HTC site I can apparently unlock my bootloader. Any alternatives that don't involve signing up to HTC with a burner e-mail address?

There are some naive hardware designers at Microsoft being educated. They will shortly be cringing with strange expressions on their faces, and puckered arses.

+Vik Olliver's filament is top notch, I've gone through kilometers of it and have never had a bad batch. My prints have surface finishes like velvet. On top of that, his filament is just about the cheapest in the country. +Matt Kraemer I'm thinking perhaps the people whose crap prints you've witnessed have poorly tuned machines?

I get a mention in the NZ Herald. Vanguard of 3D printing, eh? I feel like yelling "Hammerrrrr!"

These are the 18mm MDF bits left over from cutting a #DiamondMind 3D printer. I get the feeling they could do something useful. If you have an idea, let me know, otherwise - free firewood in Henderson :)

The insects shall not survive my fogging spray of derris death!
Looper caterpillars invaded our tomatoes. This is an act of war, and so I needed a way to disperse toxic dust particles (Derris Dust) amongst the plants in a through manner. Though I should imagine the same technique could be...

I can see something like this appearing in our loo soon, as the cats use the loo as the gateway into the 1st floor via a ceiling-cat hole!

I have been building again. removed the old pitiful shop bought cat playground, and built what i call Cat Shelves :)

Each cube is 40cm squared. There are holes to go up, down, and a bit of a maze to get to the top.

I made 3 dead end boxes for beds which have blankets in them until i get pillows (and will get a front panel) and a couple of larger double sized areas for them to play in.
The whole thing was made with 12mm hardwood ply (non-treated), and took 2.5 sheets (2400x1200mm).

Took about 2-3 hours work, and about 10 hours planning (at the least!)

Toro-bots: Walking robotic lamps reorganize garden landscapes

No matter how pretty your garden may be it only gets that way because of all of the hard work you put into it. But, in the future gardens might not need your help at all, reordering themselves at a robotic whim. (Video)

Why is Maurice Williamson so hung up on people not printing golden guns? Is this the only weapon that can return him to the netherworld?

A knob fiddling the knobs. A pile of swarf had built up under the cutter after a lot of repeated machining. Some swarf from a drilling operation then whipped round and grabbed it, distributing it all over the place. One second, machining delicately with a magnifying visor on, next second, whiteout!
