While the food is great, the prices are horribly high. $7 for a root beer float!!! Come on now.

This is awful. I found a couple fly's in my ICe cream and the owner was grabbing me. Not Recommend.

Love the flavors, have gone there for years, but saw the ads on tv and thought "oh my goodness, if that was supposed to entice me to go there... they have another think coming!" I'd never walk through the door. Those are the most awful ads I have ever seen! Where did you get these people? If those faces represented the flavors...ugh! I'd never get that flavor.... get some help with your ads! please! I'm loosing my appetite for them! Its like you picked the most sleazy people you could find and then made them say "what they are". ICK! For your own sake...get rid of those ads! Sorry to say this, but, its true.... and I love your custard, but those ads are just so unappetizing!

Great custard, and a lot of choices. Seating outside is great. Prices are a but steep, though - $5 minimum for a small custard.

Wow! A friend suggested we have lunch at Michael's yesterday (3-11-13). We were there at noon and immediately noticed a conspicuous lack of customers. We were the only two people in the place. We sat there for 30 minutes and not one other customer arrived. We both had the same thing: a cheeseburger basket (with "onion petals") and a malt. While the malts were pretty good, the cheeseburgers were mediocre at best. For two baskets and two malts...$26.09!!!! That's right! Twenty-six dollars and nine cents! If you want a decent (but expensive) malt, Michael's is ok. If you want a decent cheeseburger... go somewhere else.

The frozen custard here is amazing--by far high on the list of the best frozen custard I've ever had anywhere in the country. The standard chocolate and vanilla are always available and delicious, and then there's a flavor of the day. Oreo is particularly good. The sundaes are also a must-try, like the cookie dough and peanut butter ones. And if you have a dog, make sure to check out the "K-9 custard." The food is good (think burgers and hotdogs). Pretty standard, but what's unique and especially delicious are the fried cheese curds. In the summers, the Monroe street location is also known for its walk-up counter. Grab your custard and then walk through the park in the back to eat by Lake Wingra. Michael's is definitely a Madison tradition and staple year-round. Whenever I come back to visit, I always make sure to stop at Michaels at least once.
