Finally someone is starting to raise some valid points about this nonsense, although the author in the end still recommends a form of tipping.
When wealthy Americans brought home the practice of tipping from their European vacations in the late 19th century, their countrymen considered it bribery. State legislatures quickly banned the practice. But restaurateurs, giddy at the prospect of passing labor costs directly to customers, eventually convinced Americans to accept tipping. We had...

Yet another reminder that PETA doesn't give the remotest of fucks about actual living animals.

PETA is nothing but a group of hypocritical terrorists that spew out a bunch of propaganda.

I don't really know what's been going on in Syria, but when people are using homemade slingshots and converting lcd flatscreens and playstation controllers into rc machine guns, I can't doubt their resolve.

Resharing this awesome pic, because it reminds me of Nyarlathotep.

"The Scorpion"

The central bulge of The Milky Way in the constellations of Sagittarius and Scorpius.

It's back! Here in Australia I am lucky enough to be able to photograph this section of the sky for about ten months each year. It begins to emerge in the east in late January, and it sets in the west just after dark in November. Tried a few things different here. I would love to know what you think of it.

5 image panorama.

This is more of a Note to Self, than anything.

Yet More Rose Nib Hacking: Put a Rose in your Esterbrook

This Esterbrook SJ had a cracked section that a previous owner had glued together. A perfect victim for more fountain pen hacking!

Great image.

The Fingerlings

Ever since moving to Portland last November and working from onOne HQ, I've always fawned over a print that our Sr. Product Manager, Dan Harlacher, has hanging on the wall in his office. It was this very image that he took a year earlier and expertly processed it in black and white. I don't know what it is but every time I look at that shot, I'm transported.

So, imagine how surprised I was when Dan pointed out this very spot during our hike along Silver Falls last week! It's one thing to look at a scene on a two dimensional print. It's a whole other thing to see it with your own eyes and to set the business end of your camera towards it, making it your own.

The long and the short of it is that nabbing this shot was both rewarding and cathartic. In a small way, this rendition of my way of paying homage to Dan and his amazing talent.

In terms of processing
All touches ups and stylization were done in Lightroom 4.3. I actually started out by applying one of +Nicole S. Young's Cross Process LR Presets (http://nicolesyblog.com/presets/) and then refined to taste using the various tools in the Develop Module.
