Excellent Resource on Google+
How to Post on Google+: a list of the BEST guides
Google Plus is not Twitter, and it's not Facebook. That means that what works on those platforms doesn't work here. I hear lots of people complain that their G+ posts get no engagement. Sometimes they are simply new and have not established a loyal following of active users. But most of the time they are using G+ like it's either Twitter or Facebook (or even Pinterest).

Posting for engagement is one of the main skills to master on G+, and here are the best articles I've found that outline how to do it.

Wouldn't just one of these articles be enough? No. We learn through repetition. And each author brings a different slant to the message. You may need to hear the same advice expressed in a particular turn of phrase for it to click in your mind. So I encourage you to read them all!

Besides, not all of these offer exactly the same advice. Some differ in terms of recommended posting length whether or not you should shorten links. But you will see repeating themes that every single article is adamant about: offer value without click through, follow up on comments, use images, use bold and italics in your formatting, etc.

Most of these posts delve at least somewhat into the why behind the tips, but if you want more technical, detailed explanations, be sure to read the ADVANCED G+ POSTING section at the bottom.

Ultimate Google Plus Posting Guide
I love the annotated image of how to format G+ posts for engagement. Maybe you wouldn't use all of those options for every post, but it's a great guide to help you consider possible parts of a G+ post that begs to be +1ed, shared, and commented on.
My favorite quote: If there is content that you’d like to share with your own followers and also with another community, wait a day or two to spread out your sharing and create a new message tailored for each audience and community that you share with.

Want to Increase Social Signals?
The image comparing a brilliant G+ post versus a crappy G+ post really drives home how to increase social signals on G+. But read the commentary for more details about exactly how to win with G+ posts.
My favorite quote: . . . how much time did you spend writing that article? Don’t you think it’s worth spending a couple of minutes to make a quality post that has the chance of stimulating the social signals necessary to put it before more peoples eyes?

Link Litter Makes Me Wanna Puke a Little
You might be unaware that you are posting link litter on G+. If you're getting no engagement, this could be why. Learn what link litter is and how to write quality posts.
My favorite quote: Do you really think people are gonna waste their time reading it if you don’t even think it’s worth taking 1 minute to summarize it for them?

6 Ways a Formatted Google+ Post Will Increase Engagement and Interest
Mike explains what you should include in a G+ post but goes on to explain the why behind it so that you understand the strategy.
My favorite quote: The Title of your Google+ share and the commentary you add are just as significant as the rest of your article. It's been said that your Title should be compelling enough to get people to read your second sentence, and then your second sentence should be compelling enough to get people to read the next, and so on through your entire post. Your Google+ share works the same way.

Why Keep Promoting the Fake Mystery of Online Content?
This post here on G+ really opened my eyes to the generous type of posting that will engender relationships. Don't make the reader click to get value. Provide all the value needed right there in the G+ post. This is a totally different way of looking at posting on social media. And I like it!
My favorite quote: Is there some law under which a person must click the link to read the grand secret of the article? Why don't sharers just cheat and reveal the secret upfront, so that people don't have to click at all?
