Dead Deer Removal - Putnam County, NY

Wintertime in the northeast can be rough on the local deer population. Between higher volume of deer activity and hunting seasons, there seems to be a higher risk of deer dying on private property. Much like any dead animal removal, this can be a particularly nasty job. Between decomposition and the inevitable swarm of flies and maggots, most homeowners don't want to have to take care of it on their own.

If you've discovered a dead deer on your property, Call TriState Wildlife Today! (845) 406-9120 - http://tristatewildlife.com/servicing/brewster-ny/dead-deer-removal/

Putnam County, NY - Raccoon Removal - 10509

Over 80% of the time, when a raccoon is found in the attic, it's either pregnant, or has very recently given birth to a litter of pups. This is because expecting mothers look for the safest place to nest, and in most cases, that's going to be an unsecured, or accessible attic space. Attics are protected from both the elements and potential predators. They're also equipped with all of the warm nesting material a raccoon could hope for.

The biggest issue, aside from the risk of direct human contact, is the hazardous damage that nesting raccoons create. They shred insulation, chew on beams and wires, and urinate and defecate everywhere, which has been known to spread very serious diseases to humans that breath the contaminated air. Raccoons are simply bad news for the health of your home.

Raccoon trapping programs, coupled with damage repair and prevention techniques, is the most effective way of ridding your home of raccoons. One of the most important steps of the removal process is searching the entire attic space for babies. These adorable creatures are often hidden away from sight, and are completely helpless without their mother. No raccoon trapping program is complete without it!

If baby raccoons have been found abandoned by their mother, it's very important for find a trained wildlife rehabilitator, who can care for the babies until their fully grown. At TriState Wildlife, we care about all of the animals we encounter, and always treat them humanely and with respect!

If you've been hearing noises in the attic, Call TriState Wildlife Today! (845) 406-9120 - http://tristatewildlife.com/servicing/brewster-ny/raccoon-in-attic/

Dead Animal Removal in Putnam County, NY

Homeowners don't often realize that using poison* for rodent control regularly leads mice dying inside their walls. It's shocking how horrendous a single dead mouse can smell, but once it starts to permeate the house, it quickly becomes unbearable! As the animal begins to decompose, it becomes a breeding ground from disease vectors like flies and maggots. If left untreated, the smell can linger for months, before beginning to dissipate.

If you have a dead animal in your walls or ceiling, call TriState Wildlife Today! (845) 406-9120

*TriState Wildlife never uses poisons or harmful chemicals when removing nuisance wildlife, including rodents. Targeted trapping programs are more humane and effective in solving the issue. Please do not use poisons inside your home!

Emergency Bat Removal in Putnam County, NY

We responded to a late night call in Putnam County, when a homeowner found a bat flying around the living room. The family dog had alerted them to the bat's presence and there was no way of knowing if there had been any contact between the two, which had the owners very worried. We dispatched our On-Call Bat Guy to retrieve the bat right away. The bat had stopped flying around the living room, but it was pretty easy to spot on the light colored curtain.

The next morning, we delivered the bat to the Department of Health for rabies testing. Luckily, the bat came back negative for rabies, which made the family breath a big sigh of relief. Now we can begin the process of discovering how the bat got inside and preventing any new bats from doing the same.

If you have a bat inside your home, call TriState Wildlife right away!

Bird Removal - Putnam County, New York

Birds absolutely love unprotected dryer vents! Since they're often warm and completely protected from the elements, they provide the perfect nesting space. Once filled with nesting material, the dryer vent not only becomes ineffective, it creates a serious fire hazard.

In some cases, the nest can be removed from the outside of the house, then the vent can be bird proofed. In some cases however, the entire vent pipe may need to be disassembled, in order to clean out all debris and contaminants. Being thorough is always key.

If you need Bird Removal in the Putnam County area, Call (845) 406-9120

Squirrel Trapping and Removal - Fishkill, NY

Our Dutchess County Office responded to another Squirrel Removal call in Fishkill, NY this week. The homeowner had been hearing noises in the attic during the day, that sounded like light scratching and scampering. While these types of noises are shared by several nuisance wildlife, only the grey squirrel is overly active during the daytime.

We inspected the entire roofline with out ladders and only found one access hole into the attic. At the base of the highest peak on the house, a grey squirrel had chewed straight through the solid fascia board with ease. We set two different types of traps. The first was a  live cage trap that was secured to the roof, along the most likely path the returning squirrel would take. The second was a one-way trap that secured over the hole, in case the squirrel was still inside. We added a small piece of white metal to prevent the squirrel from chewing its way out.

We returned at the end of the day, when the homeowner called to say that the squirrel was trapped in our one-way. Since it'd been the only squirrel inside the attic, we were able to squirrel proof the chewed hole with a larger piece of white metal that blended nicely with the fascia. No more squirrel chewing at the house!
