Andy Cunningham has always loved New Orleans and he's happy to finally call it home.
Originally from Davenport, Iowa, Andy is a 2005 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where he studied broadcast television.
Since then, Andy's been busy starting out as a one-man-band reporter in small town Pennsylvania, before working at two stations in his home state. In 2007, he left for a job in the Horse Capital of the World, Lexington, KY.
In the Summer of 2009, he traveled south to report for a news station in San Antonio, Texas.
With life being unpredictable at times, Andy ended back up north, where he returned to Lexington for nearly two more years before landing in the Crescent City at WDSU News.
Andy's covered a little bit of everything in his time as a reporter, from the Iowa Caucuses to deadly tornadoes.
interviewed more people than he can count, but he says his most
memorable interview was from 2006, when he interviewed a young senator
from Illinois, Barack Obama, who a couple of years later, became the 44th President of the United States of America.
Something interesting about Andy, while going to school at Emerson College during the Summer of 2004, and interning at "Dateline NBC," Andy was called to “come on down” as a contestant on the "Price Is Right." Fortunately, he made it on stage. Unfortunately, he didn't win a car. However, Andy did get to meet the shows longtime host, Bob Barker.
Andy is excited to be in New Orleans and most of all become part of the "Who Dat Nation."
