- KCRAReporter, present
Janet O is a general assignment reporter and Stanislaus County Bureau Chief for KCRA 3 News.
This native of California was born in the lettuce capitol of the world, Salinas. Meeting new people, learning new things has always been a part of Janet's personality. In seventh grade, she decided she wanted to become a journalist. She was encouraged to follow her dreams by long-time KSBW-TV anchor Dina Ruiz-Eastwood, who is known along the Central Coast as Mrs. Clint Eastwood.
Janet attended college at the University of California-Berkeley for her undergraduate studies and then received her Master's degree from Syracuse University.
Janet spent time working in the coldest areas of the country covering snowstorms before moving to Las Vegas to cover the sweltering heat of the desert for KLAS-TV. While in Las Vegas, Janet also covered the OJ Simpson armed robbery trial and the Michael Jackson death investigation.
Community involvement is a big part of Janet's life. She was proud to co-host the first ever Korean-American Day in Olympia, Washington. In 2010, she was one of 13 journalists from around the world invited to cover the G20 Summit in South Korea.
And if you're wondering about her last name, it really is just the letter 'O'.
