Reading Marc Nash's Not in My Name - definitely put this one on your Kindle list. With the rise of the Occupy movement, the Arab spring - there really isn't a more timely look at our age. Marc is a rare wordsmith, thought-provoking with the sort of intelligence we could use more of today.

Jeannette Winterson: All About My Mother via Guardian UK - wonderful essay on how she came to writing and to life, as strong a support for the reading of books (and poetry) as any I've ever read.

Google seems desperate for G+ not to fail - at the risk of angering users of the Google Reader (who are now integrated into G+).

If you break the rules on Google+, you can lose all Google services.

The one bullet point:

- no publishing of someone's private or personal information

strikes me as being a little smarmy as Google requires everyone to reveal their real name in order to have a Google+ account.

Google can collect all your real data (for what reason, really?), but the users better behave on that score or....else.

Eight Cuts Gallery now presents What There is Instead of Rainbows - five unique expressions of mental illness, the interpretation of the dark side of a conversation that is still, for many, a taboo subject. The inner life of depression, anxiety and suicide - from writers and artists who know intimately of what they write.

Malcolm Lowry's 'Under the Volcano' - by Chris Power, via Guardian UK. If you've never read (or if you've only seen John Huston's film version), please give it a go: Lowry's prose is like a fever-dream that pushes reality over the edge with delirious empathy and wit. It is also one of the most involving portraits of an alcoholic, ever. Few novels create such a frenetic counterpoint of politics, religion, mysticism and the rupture of social norms as this one.

'Adventures in Depression' from Hyperbole and a Half - funny, honest account of one person's experience with Depression - not sure who shared this, was sent to me, so if you know who did, please let me know so I can give credit. Thanks.

SERIOUSLY disturbed by Google's big power play over real names on G+. Their process is unfair, unfeasible and the sort of tactic a repressive regime would enforce. I hope other users will join me in sending a message to Google that they really shouldn't be evil. Stalking and censorship are just two of the issues at hand here.

Important article in the Guardian: Google+ and Psuedonymity by GrrlScientist - who had her Google+ account revoked due to what Google called a 'violation of their community standards.' Please read and share and help petition Google over this serious lack of sense in this unfortunate and ill-thought out policy.

Now let's see if they lock me out for sharing the story.
