If the implementation is hard to explain, it's a bad idea.

I'm pretty sure this will cause more nightmares than it prevents - but I'm still tempted to get one for the toddler.

Beer dinners

So, I have a combination of factors going on here:
1. If I don't set up a regularly-scheduled way to see you people, it won't happen.
2. I like to cook - especially feast-like centerpiece dishes - and there are many of those recipes I want to try. Kyna calls me a "project cook".
3. I have a growing - and aging - collection of really awesome beer that should be shared with awesome people.

This idea is still taking shape, but I think after the holidays I'll try setting up a regular (monthly? every other month?)  beer dinner at our house. Of course, I'll try to work around scheduling issues and any food limitations you remind me of. If this ends up being "a few friends", and a different set of times - great! If it ends up being a big group, I'll set out a donations jar to defray costs.

There might be a few trial runs with smaller groups of specific invitees, before (or if) I ramp this up to an open invite.

Thoughts? Interested?

I took Kaiju on a hike through Discovery park - past the Daybreak Star center, down North Beach to the lighthouse, then back up Hidden Valley. I didn't get many pictures, but I did manage to capture his charge toward the sea.

He was also really intrigued with the murals on the Daybreak Star center. At some point, we should go back to visit their gallery.

Lately, I've been taking Ciaran to Seward park in some mornings. The playground is out of direct sunlight, and completely uncrowded - so we can play on the "big kids" equipment, or the preschooler equipment, or the zip line, or the swings, as the mood strikes him.

At today's Amazon Picnic, Ciaran visited his first petting zoo.

Pigs, goats, sheep, and even an alpaca. Once he found out how soft the Alpaca was, he just hugged it and tried to cuddle on top of it, like a pillow or a stuffed animal he thusly declares to be his new favorite.

Ciaran's new game:
Find dad lying down on lawn, floor, or bed.
Climb up and straddle his belly.
Clamber up to standing.
Stomp out a quick dance.
Kick out your legs, and drop down.

I am trying to discourage this, before mommy gets home and he breaks her.
