We went and voted in the #PMCElections for a better #Pune today. And then we did this! :)
How was your voting experience? Was it smooth? Didn’t it feel great when done?

On the Extentia Blog: 'Engineer the Experience' by Maria Agata Sierpinski -- take a look! :)
'By bringing the Design Studio together with management, developers, and QA teams, we created a forum where both sides could meet each others' worlds. Rather than aspiring to make designers out of project managers and developers, the focus was on user experience – how do we with combined forces deliver well-designed technology to our end users?'
If you attended, what was the experience like?

“They say that only thing we have to fear is fear itself – in some way my father followed this throughout his life and taught me to do the same. Brought up in a small village in Rajasthan, my life and those of other girls like me were in the hands of social customs. Time had done little to change the old ways, and girls were married off before they could experience the world on their own terms.
My father had to struggle a great deal to educate himself and maybe that is why he understands the value of knowledge. He fought the norms of our village to ensure his children never had to face the same difficulties. I can only imagine the opposition he would have faced as he encouraged me to pursue my studies; everyone from jealous neighbors to disapproving elders who blocked his way. He even risked being completely cast out by the community. However, nothing could deter him.
I feel that in a way my achievements are the story of his vision and struggle. Off I went to Kota to put my will power to the test, and it didn’t fail me! I was the first girl in my village to become an engineer. I sometimes think my story is a story of firsts, not for myself, but for all the girls in my village who were not afraid to dream.
If you have the courage and the commitment, then life has no choice but to carry you forward. I began teaching as a lecturer in Mumbai, but my true passions lay in the IT industry. Here too, I had my father’s support and look at me now; I am working and settled in a beautiful city like Pune!
You may be wondering what happened to all the other girls in my village, were they left behind? Not at all! After people heard my story, they encouraged their own daughters to study and make a life for themselves. One day, I would like to return to my village and open a school. You just need a crack to weaken the glass ceiling, and I am glad that our effort has set a whole community of women free!”

We had Extentia’s annual Forum at Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Pune yesterday! At the event, we presented events and achievements over the past year. Several Extentians were also honored for their work and commitment. It was an evening to remember – fun videos, 1-5-10-15-100-year Extentians talking to us about their experiences, and a before/after pictorial walk through memory lane! :)

How was #ExtentiaForum17 for you? What did you like the most about Thursday night?

“Hi!
So what can I tell you about myself? My childhood was spent in the small town of Wardha but from a young age, I learned to dream big. I went to school just like everyone else but it didn’t strike the right chord. It was only when I did a course in dressmaking, after 10th grade, that I realized I had a deep love for fashion.
Right after I got married, my husband and I found ourselves working in Norway. It was quite the experience. I don’t think anyone in India has ever experienced the cold that I did, in Norway. It was bone-chilling -32 degrees Celsius! Life was tough. I remember that the station I used to go to every day had trains running in two directions, one to where I worked and the other, straight to the airport. There were days when I wanted to jump on a train and head straight to the airport.
But every cloud has a silver lining and one day I came across the Mrs. India International pageant. It was one of the most exciting times in my life. It gave me the chance to work on myself, everything from the way I looked to the way I carried myself mattered. It really helped boost my confidence. It was held in Atlanta, Georgia and some of the questions the judges asked really got my creativity flowing, for instance, how would I dress Michelle Obama? I think you get my drift.
I qualified in the top five and have my very own sash and crown to remind me of my triumph. Whenever I look at it, it reminds me that beauty combined with brains is an unbeatable combination both on the ramp and in life!”
