'tis me, myself and I.
Introduction
Present: Paraplegic, crafter, writer, foodie, geek. Past: martial artist, sailor, programmer, game designer.

Raiser of children, lover of her beloved, friend to various.

Who I was:

A writer, a critic, an editor, a game designer, a geek, an advocate (GLBT, disability awareness, feminism), a sexuality speaker/columnist. Not terribly well known, but with mild street cred during the 90s and the start of the 00s. Mostly known for being an online net presence before everyone and their cat became web celebs. Massachusetts born and bred.

Disappeared for most of a decade while dealing with a diagnosis and heavy flare up of Multiple Sclerosis. Lost and regained and lost again the ability to walk (13 times before calling it over and done) and speak (five, regained at last check) among other things..

Lived in a nursing home in Pennsylvania for a bit, relocated to live with my partner in California.

Who I am:

A fan of beauty in art, photos and writing. A crafter -- beader, jeweler. A recipe-creating foodie. A parent-type to five kids; three in my home and two related by love rather than presence. One grandchild. A paralyzed, bed-bound, brain damaged woman with a sharp tongue and limited energy, but lots of time.

Circle at will.

Bragging rights
Helping raise 3 kids (sometimes six) and surviving advanced MS, sharing my life with my partner. Creator of pretties, semi-precious bejeweled variety.

Our latest wedding gift; snow quartz and black and red Czech glass. with an artisan glass flower centerpiece.

We love building wedding pieces as gifts for our close friends. Commissioning a similar piece will run you ~$75-$100 (with earrings.)

The charming model isn't for sale, but we do loan him out on occasion.

So -- three sets of these earrings will be up for sale. The necklace? Not so much. Mine. It's mine. I would be willing to build a variant for $100 -- those bead strands are made from over a dozen different gemstone chips and rounds. That's what it would cost to build another from scratch -- though I have the dozen bits required, and so can make a fair profit.

But it took three years and having a great deal of family support to gather together my bits and bobs to the point where I  can offer the piece for less than $100. "But I could build that!" Yes, you could, and the cost for the raw materials, all twelve gemstones in their various shapes, and the metal for the fittings, would run you around $100, to build just the one.

Let's not forget the six months to a year you'd spend learning how to put the damned thing together.

And that is why $100 is giving Plussers a discount. I can make three or four once I've bought enough for the one, and that means I get to do this for something more than just the love of doing it.

That said, is anyone interested? Earrings are $18.50; I'll put up a listing tomorrow/soonish. Necklace available on request.

Things I had in my life 6 weeks or so ago: Colin. Yvonna. The kids and young Jose. My computer. My mother and brother.

A strong sense of isolation and despair.

Things I have today:

Three books that I'm in the middle of reading. A new project: creating new slow cooker recipes with Colin to try*.  Several jewelry projects to continue building. Radio to listen to, to pass the days. (Thanks, Neil, for the reminder,)

A sense of worth and purpose.

It's not much, but it is enough. Cooking, beading, words. A small life, but mine. I'm keeping it.

* I have been eating the same three meals seven days a week for two years, with the occasional fish dinner for a treat. One one them was oatmeal.**

** Yes, I've been damned near suicidal.
