What can you expect from the Physiotherapy-Pilates approach to injuries.

Damian Wyard (Registered Physiotherapist) combines manual therapy, sports massage with Pilates rehabilitation. He uses the classic Pilates equipment to allow patients to move and strengthen painful joints or muscles. Damian usually spends an hour teaching and correcting the exercises in his studio. He finds that the one-on-one instruction achieves better results than just giving patients home exercises. With many long standing spinal conditions, there are muscles imbalances that have to be corrected. It takes a trained eye to see these and make the adjustments to the movement. Areas of the body that respond well to Pilates rehabilitation are the lower back and pelvis; and also neck, shoulder and upper back.

A unique addition to his practice is the combination of joint mobilizations while patients perform an exercise on the equipment.
