A very moving tribute to Alan Rickman.

Alan Rickman is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with. He is also, one of the loyalest and most supportive people I've ever met in the film industry. He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter. I'm pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn't have to do that. I know other people who've been friends with him for much much longer than I have and they all say "if you call Alan, it doesn't matter where in the world he is or how busy he is with what he's doing, he'll get back to you within a day".

People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner(or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass.

As an actor he was one of the first of the adults on Potter to treat me like a peer rather than a child. Working with him at such a formative age was incredibly important and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career. Film sets and theatre stages are all far poorer for the loss of this great actor and man.

Really torn here. Extra Dael videos will always be welcome but blatant 'sponsored-post' content is blatant. I understand the partnership behind-the-scenes at G&S but this just feels 'off' to me. Legendary, don't make the G&S crew into shameless marketing drones. Please?

Opinions It's interesting to me how opinions vary amongst people. See these from Twitter today: Vue's better than Odeon. Vue's better than Odeon. Cineworld's better than VUE. I haven't got any more to add right now, just that experiences and opinions vary a...

Hmmmmmmm...Not fully comfortable with Cougar jokes from a 72 year old. Also, has the "Black Widow' stayed the same since 1985? More to that, has Granville STILL not learned to talk to women in the decades since? Or are those nerves meant to remind us of Ronnie Barker? Am not 100% sure about this re-visiting of this loved classic.

Awesome, if far too brief, insight into the writing process of the outrageously talented Amber Benson. I say brief but I'd still be complaining if it went on for an hour as there can never be enough Benson!

Let me guess: It's going to be free to play with IAP and I can earn rewards for every friend I invite. I'll only be able to play for a short amount of time before my 'energy' runs out and I'll have to stop and play again the next day. Oh and some rides/attractions will only be available if I purchase them with a special kind of currency that is extremely rare, unless I buy it with real-money.

I'm happy to be proved wrong on all these points.

Touching letter regarding HOW GCSE grade-standardization affects pupils. Well worth a read:
Dear Michael Gove, You will never read this, but I feel compelled to put it out there in the faint hope that more people will realise the repercussions of your latest initiative. I am proud to work at...

Extremely detailed reporting of the Twitter Joke Trial appeal that will hopefully clear Paul Chambers' name. Well worth a read for the legal arguments around Twitter and tweeting.
Paul Chambers completed his first marathon in May 2012 and I'm sure he could hardly believe it when the finish line came into view. Now with any luck the longest run of his life may be nearly over. I ...
