Tis the season for giving πŸ’

Through the month of December we will be posting a pet in need at TCRAS.

This little one's name is Quinter. Himself, his brother and sister are recently back from their foster house because they are now old enough to find forever homes. He knows his house manners. He has lived with other cats. He loves to play. Please remember he is a kitten and will need patience as he is learning. If you're interested in meeting him, definitely come visit him at TCRAS!

Also, he would like for people to donate to help with the foster care program. Quinter was so lucky to have been placed into foster care. Between the foster home and AMC was to beat all odd of surviving and is now a beautiful, loving kitten. On the average TCRAS spends $200 per kitten and puppy that need the foster care program.

If you have any questions you can contact us at 719-687-9201 or TCRAS at 719-686-7707.

As the weather gets colder, you may worry about the cats you see around your neighborhood.

They may be pets whose owners let them outside, or they could be community cats, a group that includes ferals (who are afraid of people) and strays (who've been lost or abandoned). No matter how resourceful these outdoor cats are, they need help surviving winter.

If you've got time to help, the kitties will thank you! Follow these tips to help your local outdoor cats during the cold months.

Happy Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know.... Compared with octopuses living in tanks full of interesting decor like shells and flowerpots, octopuses living in more spartan conditions become pretty stressed out, one study found. Some even turn to a disturbing behavior known as autophagy, or eating their own appendages, in such non-stimulating environments. Basically, they eat their own arms when they're bored!

Also, like chimpanzees, dolphins and crows, octopuses are among the special set of intelligent animals that have been observed using tools. In 2009, scientists reported they had watched veined octopuses (Amphioctopus marginatus) picking up discarded coconut shells and using them like mobile homes.

If you have any fun animal facts, send us a message with your fact and we'll feature it on our Facebook page!

Through the month of December we will be posting a pet in need at TCRAS.

Chief is a 3-year old big guy that broke both of his front legs by jumping off a balcony. He has already had surgery and healing but with his large size it is a little more painful and difficult without support to get around. Front leg braces would cost close to $1,000 for Chief. We are accepting donations here at AMC and you can also go directely to TCRAS. Anything helps!

If you have any questions you can contact us at 719-687-9201 or TCRAS at 719-686-7707.
