Something is wrong with the two lady waitresses. They kept staring at me the whole time I was eating. Then I got up and sat on the other side of the table in order to avoid their stares. But to my astonishment, the two shameless waitresses, turned around on the other side of the table as well and kept staring at me again. It was so awkward!! I asked for to-go boxes, packed my food and went back home, and ate my dinner properly at home.

I went there with my girlfriend a few weeks ago. Honestly, the service was terrible, and completely ruined our experience. The woman who waited on us was over the top rude. After taking our order, she wouldn't even look at us, and acted annoyed and disdainful every time she came to check on us. It's not like we had any special food requests or were running her ass off or anything. After she presented us the bill without saying a word, she acted really annoyed that we had a coupon, and stormed away, slamming things around as she swiped my card. I always tip at least 20-25%, but in this instance I refused to leave anything more than 10%, with a note on the bill indicating that having a negative attitude obviously results in a small tip. There are lots of fantastic Indian options, not only in Columbus, but in the immediate area of New India (Tadka and AAB come to mind), where you can get amazing food at a reasonable price, and with great service. Restaurants aren't selling food, they're selling an experience. This is why I'll never buy New India again, and I'll be sure to tell everyone I know about my terrible experience, and the superior dining options in the area.

We keep going back to this spot as the Indian food is the best in the area and can be made vegan. Excellent for carryout and they have a coupon for an even better deal. Tons of excellent vegetarian dishes and they are quick to make it. My advice is to order out as the dining experience is not the best. If I rated the dining service it would be 2.5 stars but carryout is perfect so stick to it.

We have been eating in New India for so many years now. One of the best place for authentic Punjabi food. Try their Malai kofta, Dal makhani. The best in town.

Followup to my previous review. We eat at New India more than any other restaurants and the food has always been outstanding. The wait staff are friendly, but non-intrusive, and are always attentive about refilling drinks. I've read some other reviews stating otherwise but my experience has always been excellent. Chicken makhani and paneer masala keep me coming back for now - that is until I get a new favorite from the menu. Everything I've tried has been exceptional. =) New India Restaurant is one of our favorite restaurants in Columbus. The food is excellent and can be ordered with any spice level. The atmosphere is comfortable and the servers are very polite and attentive. They bring a constant supply of water, which you'll need if you order your food spicy as we normally do. Favorites include Chicken Tikka, Chicken Tikka Masala, mixed vegetables and paneer pakora. For dessert, you can't go wrong with the mango pudding, gajar halva or kheer. If you just want to try an assortment of foods, they offer a buffet at lunch every day.

Definitely the best Indian buffet I ever went to. My only complaint is that it is 220 miles from home. :(

The (barely)Good: The naans, mango lassi & the vegetarian fare . We tried the veg appetizers platter & 3 veg entrees. The Bad: The 3 non-veg dishes we had were uninspired & unimpressive. They ranged from grossly over-spiced to downright bland. The Ugly: The service was one of the worst I have ever experienced in my life. The chicken biryani was just awful. And this comes from an Indian who has eaten biriyani, all her life, in 3 countries and 5 states in India. The verdict: Please avoid this place if you can. If they can't prepare a decent meal and serve you politely; you Should take your business elsewhere. There are much better Indian places in Columbus.

I have been dining at this establishment since a week after it initially opened for business. I have lived outside of Ohio and have had plenty of experiences with many cuisines Indian and otherwise, so I have lots of places to use for comparison. After I returned to this state, this remains my favorite Indian restaurant, and perhaps one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I find the location, prices, quality of food, consistency of flavor, speed of serving food after ordering, and serving staff to be excellent which is why I consider myself to be a regular. Even the staff remembers me and my usual orders even after I had moved away from Ohio for the first time only to return over a year later. This impressed me. In any case, I will keep going here and would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone that loves great food at great prices that are served by genuinely nice people.
