Here's the self driving car taken to the next level - no traditional controls (steering, accelerator, brakes). Would you ride in one?

Speaking of #moonshots : Google X has just announced their latest version of the Self Driving Car - built entirely from the ground up.  The car, built without any steering wheel or pedals, has just had it's alpha version come off the production line this week! Imagine never having to even think about parking your car ever again.

Follow our friends' amazing progress on their G+ page: +Google Self-Driving Car Project.

I would love to ride in one.  Not only would driving be safer if humans weren't at the control, we could gain so much of our life back to read, work, or just relax and not stress about traffic.

Due to popularity of this event, in-person attendance will be limited to those that pre-register at: http://goo.gl/Qb3mWl  Everyone else can join the hangout.

Join GDG LA as we work together on the Android Wear Codelab.  Android Wear is the hottest topic of the year, with every major vendor releasing their own device.  Learn how to write your own Android applications that can be run on wearable devices (or phones/tablets).  Come prepared with your Android 4.3+ device, laptop with prerequisites installed, phone USB cable, and ability to code awesomeness.

Pre-requisites are detailed here:
http://www.slideshare.net/optimizedprime/android-wear-code-lab-preparation

Pizza and soda will be served.  Shwag will be given away.

WE WILL NOT BE GIVING AWAY ANY WEARABLE DEVICES
This Hangout On Air is hosted by GDG Los Angeles. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

Google I/O 2014 website is up.  Check it out.  It's a lottery system this year (instead of first come first served).

#gdg #2013
GDG Los Angeles had a great 2013.  We continued to grow as a chapter, not only in membership numbers, but also in experience.

We established a new corporate sponsor to provide food and drink at our meetups and continue to look for additional sponsors to provide shwag and other materials.

Our first Android themed meetup was a huge success and had record attendance.  More and more members are volunteering to present and share.

We're sorry to see our founding organizer, Zach Baker, leave us and wish him much luck in his future endeavors.

GDG LA is officially looking for a new logo.  It must incorporate the official GDG logo, not infringe on any trademarks, and be easy to print on t-shirts.

#gdg  #2014
GDG Los Angeles is psyched about 2014.  We have a full calendar planned, with regularly scheduled meetups each month.

Our format has been revised to include an "opening act" and "headliner", which has proven successful in the past.  Members are encouraged to volunteer for either portion of the meetup.

Our primary sponsor has a new facility and is providing us with a large furnished meeting room, food, and drinks.  We've obtained a new secondary sponsor for shwag and door-prizes and continue to look for others.

Besides Dart and Android development, we are excited to hold meetups on CodeJam, I/O, Glass, and other hot topics.
