Look back to the question [How], I realize that, that can not be learned easily. Since it is actually a complex [Operation Procedure] that every Masters established through their life long practice. However, only occasionally, they leave traces of their summarized descriptions in classic documentations along with tales from their student.

Today, even if we can record and document all the physics, bio mechanics, anatomical analysis etc., it will still be a journey for every practitioner to search that unique balance belongs to oneself.

The arms ring, in different orientations, forms the virtual sphere around upper body.
The arm itself also rotate around the center axis. This rotation create rigidness at elbow joint. Like twisting the towel. When in extremely tight, the towel become very rigid.
The fluctuation between rotating from one extreme to the other can be synchronized with legs transition.
This practice give direction to improve the quality of arms.

Redirect incoming pressure, impact, by using upper Sphere generated rotation, and legs generated transition. While opponent loose focus, the re-balancing provide the gap in time and space.
Applying this concept of redirecting, the energy used is only to perform readjusting. Therefore, Taichi is extremely energy conserved.

Chen Taichi is a system designed to better equip us so that we can perform our physical function more efficient.
This video describe Taichi starting from simple legs and arms functions as how simple it is and easy to govern by anyone.

By opening a door or pick up a chair with Tai Chi concepts, or the help of the squat position, reaching to a cup, and moving in close with the torso straight. The theory of ergonomics are found throughout Tai Chi movements, and can be applied realistically.

I remember when I was young, one of the reasons to learn Taichi was the level of proficiency was not to rely on muscular strength, but through sensing and control. I would imagine either pushing a heavy motorcycle up a hill, or riding a light bicycle with wind on my back.

As I get older, I find that brute force no longer works. Not even when writing good computer programs. Experience and skill is most important.

How about doing everyday activities? There always a best way to posture our body to reduce the likelihood of injury; that is what we can learn from doing Taichi.

Walk on Ice is a great example. Oh, I like the raking leaves example. Neighbors were wondering why though. :D

Summarize the quality explained in the previous videos, and present them in the first 4 old form movements.
To truly demonstrate the beauties of Chen Taichi, It is essential to present and perfecting those qualities in daily form practice.

Legs perform two function:
1/ weight supporting and
2/ driving torso into new position by extending.
The interchange between functions from one to the other. Including the possibilities of intermediate position, the leg accuracy can be practices with great detail and complexity.

In Chen Taichi the Upper Body is formed by two arms bend in a circular shape.
The tent like structure better distribute stress through out in conditions such as pickup loads or except impact.

Just read an article by Scott and I 16 years ago. The wonder about Taichi is still so true and refreshing. Hope you enjoy it too.
.....
Such harmony invites aggression to pause. .. and to enjoy itself in good company.
.....
We are only discovering our nature which is one with all of nature,. It is unchanged by our ignorance and welcomes our discovery.

Is Taichi about exercise? Or it is an art? While we are using body as brushes, paint in the space, present intention. If each muscle, ligament is a string, bone structure will be the frame. We are playing the strings of music along with flow of change with our frame.
