where do I even start with this place? my friends and I heard about this being a hidden bar and was so excited about the idea and ended up going this last Wednesday night. soon as I opened the door, I was greeted with snarky looks and unfriendly employee faces. grant it, the whole place and patio is gorgeous but the whole vibe was just so turn off ish. I don't remember our bartenders name but he was just so awful that we ended up sitting outside. at this point I was already having a bad time just from those two incidents that we decided to just have one drink and leave the place. My friend and I had 9$ Moscow mules and my boyfriend asked the bartender to make him any whiskey drink and when we got the tab it came out to $29.00. I definitely did not tip because I don't believe anybody there deserved it. it is now Saturday afternoon and when I checked my bank statement, unsurprisingly Captain Foxhearts Bad News Bar charged me $39.00. when I tried to call and dispute this, There are two different numbers listed on every website for this bar and one goes to a voicemail 'that is not set up yet' and another goes to a phone number that doesn't even work at all. There goes a 50% tip to somebody who does not deserve it. This bar definitely lives up to its 'bad news' name. If you love being wrongly charged, judged and feel like being put in a bad mood, I'll give the folks at Bad news bar five stars for that.

One of Houstons coolest bars featuring a secret entrance, behemoth liquor selection, and beautiful balcony looking over market sqaure. This is a must see spot whether or not you live in town. Words of caution: While the cocktail selection is great, the taste on some drinks is lackluster. The staff is very friendly on low key nights, but won't spend much time with you on busy nights. There can be a small line with up to a 10 min wait to get in on busy nights.

I really like how this place was a bit of a speak easy. It's hidden. I hope it remains that way. The drinks were really good! The bartender was friendly and really took care of us. The prices were decent for crafted drinks from a mixologists

Very swank yet chill atmosphere. Bartenders put real pride into their drinks and it definitely shows in the quality. They're a bit pricey but this not a place you go to to get smashed on cheap liquor.

I Love this little hidden gem. Great view of the city and even better drinks and bartenders. Can't go wrong with the classics here: The Manhattan & Old Fashions are stellar. The Almond Crusta Blossom is one of my go to's but this is place for Campari shots and is NOT a speakeasy. Look for Brandon Or Kristen..two of the dopest bartenders in the game! This is where you go towards the end of the night for one last cocktail a cigarette and some city-fied people watching from the balcony.Get's no better. It's so good I almost don't want to share it with you!

The bar tenders can be a little snobby sometimes and the drink menu is hit or miss. The ambiance is nice and I like the concept of the bar too. It has a nice balcony to hang out on when it's not too crowded.

Hey if you want a low key place, not loud and knowledgeable bartenders, then this is the place I would want you to go. Was walking around downtown with friends on a Sunday, stopped by here for a couple of drinks, they were amazing. Made with care and loving (exaggerating a bit), but they were made very awesomely. The owner was the bartender and he answered our million questions with patience and sincerity. Great place to go on a date or just a few friends wanting some great cocktails.

So if you're looking for a sign for this bar you are going to be fresh out of luck... it's tucked away behind the entrance to a law office. Their is a bouncer outside so you can look for him and then you'll find your way inside. The bar is upstairs, 1 flight of stairs and in a great location downtown. The view off the balcony is nice, pretty at night looking out at downtown. The inside of the bar is not huge, there are about 4-5 tables in the back and a few tables along the sides of the bar. We were there on a Saturday night and luckily were able to get a table. I will say, we did have a bigger group of people and it was hard for all of us to find somewhere together, so we did end up splitting in half.. not the best place for groups as it's more of an intimate date place. The drinks were great, they have just about everything to choose from and then a few cocktail/specialty drinks to choose from off their menu. The bartenders were friendly and quick to serve so that was a plus!
