I really like how this place was a bit of a speak easy. It's hidden. I hope it remains that way. The drinks were really good! The bartender was friendly and really took care of us. The prices were decent for crafted drinks from a mixologists

Classy (maybe too classy) interior, amazing standard cocktails and inventive originals, surly bartenders who spin their own vinyl on the turntables behind the bar on slow nights, and one of the best balconies in town overlooking Main St. What's not to love?

So if you're looking for a sign for this bar you are going to be fresh out of luck... it's tucked away behind the entrance to a law office. Their is a bouncer outside so you can look for him and then you'll find your way inside. The bar is upstairs, 1 flight of stairs and in a great location downtown. The view off the balcony is nice, pretty at night looking out at downtown. The inside of the bar is not huge, there are about 4-5 tables in the back and a few tables along the sides of the bar. We were there on a Saturday night and luckily were able to get a table. I will say, we did have a bigger group of people and it was hard for all of us to find somewhere together, so we did end up splitting in half.. not the best place for groups as it's more of an intimate date place. The drinks were great, they have just about everything to choose from and then a few cocktail/specialty drinks to choose from off their menu. The bartenders were friendly and quick to serve so that was a plus!

If you like dark rooms and cold bourbon mixed by a quick-witted, skinny guy rocking an imperial style mustache, Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar is the place for you (and me too). My favorite things about this bar: - Its a hidden gem. If you didn't already know it was there, you would walk right past it. Once you spot the doorman, you find yourself walking up a set of dimly lit stairs which gives you the impression of entering a speakeasy in 1920's Houston. - The drink selection is fantastic- order a bud light and you'll get laughed out of there, so definitely go with the expectation of trying something different. The best thing to do is to ask the 'mixologists' to surprise you... my experience is that they are constantly brewing up new concoctions for patrons and I have yet to be disappointed. If you aren't feeling a cocktail, they have a great beer selection. - The balcony is the BEST part; City lights, people watching, and socializing.

Hey if you want a low key place, not loud and knowledgeable bartenders, then this is the place I would want you to go. Was walking around downtown with friends on a Sunday, stopped by here for a couple of drinks, they were amazing. Made with care and loving (exaggerating a bit), but they were made very awesomely. The owner was the bartender and he answered our million questions with patience and sincerity. Great place to go on a date or just a few friends wanting some great cocktails.

The bar tenders can be a little snobby sometimes and the drink menu is hit or miss. The ambiance is nice and I like the concept of the bar too. It has a nice balcony to hang out on when it's not too crowded.

Captain Foxheart's is a welcome downtown surprise amid all of the bars littered throughout midtown and montrose. Their drinks and made with a great attention to detail and when they have speciality drinks they are usually out of this world. I had a 'Thug Passion' the other night and it was amazing. In addition to an outdoor patio to take in the night or day you have a great interior atmosphere that sets the mood of the evening for class and great cocktails. Easily my favorite bar downtown. What I Order: Lots of Old Fashioneds

I heard great things about the Bad News Bar, so I was excited to check it out on a busy Saturday night. Maybe that was the problem, since the bartender seemed really bothered by my request for an extra olive for my wife's martini. "We don't have olives... ever. " the bartender said with an air of superiority. My asking for further explanation, (not exactly chatty, just "why not?") was apparently a major annoyance. I'm all for a bar curating their offerings, but I think that a quick reason why a classic staple garnish is not available at all is not an unreasonable thing for someone to ask. Give me some BS about lax quality control in olive groves in Eastern Macedonia, but don't treat me like I'm stupid for asking. Overall the drinks *were* good but the cold vibe from the waitstaff was a major drawback. I might like to give Bad News Bar another try, but there are so many good options-old and new- in the area, I don't know if I'll ever bother to take the chance.
