This is exceptional. I challenge anyone to make a cosplay this good even with a movie studio behind you.
This 3D-printed cosplay is freaking INSANE....Captain America, Iron Man, Batman, and Optimus-Prime. Captain-Iron-Bat-Prime 0_0

Lots of great news in astronomy and biotechnology this past week! The Philae Lander on Comet 67P has woken up, a monstrous galaxy has been found 11.7 billion l.y. away, Harvard researchers have developed nanotechnology for injecting directly into the brain, and much more.
Check it all out in the links below!

I have started a new blog mostly doing reviews and news pieces to get into the rhythm. I do want to use it to share my writing but I'm not going to start by bombarding the public with excerpts from novels just yet, feels a little too self promotional.

I have done the starting up a Twitter, a tumblr, linking it to this account and making a new Facebook page too (although technical issues abound).

Does anyone have any suggestions to help? I'm mostly doing this to keep writing now that I've finished university and don't want to lose it. I know about using royalty free images for posts since photos get more interest, for the review use my own photos because that is again my rights to use my photos. I'm just trying to think around and see what I'm missing.

I'll post a link in the comments below if anyone wants it but my handle is Wilfwrite

Any suggestions on how to market my science fiction novel? I've been out of the marketing game for about half a year finishing my degree, exams and dissertation. I am quite rusty on the whole thing.

Student budget, got some money but no more than a £5 a week.

Need some help.

I have a story I've been writing about humanitarians in the future who work for a company that send people back in time. They go to the worst times in history and offer medical help to civilians, ensure that chance isn't the only reason VIPs get out of dangerous places in time, and protect valuable artefacts either by getting them some place safe or just taking them out of the time so people in the future had the paintings lost on the Titanic, had the scrolls from the library of Alexandria.

I wanted to write a story where scientific advancements and a multi billionaire dollar company did something altruistic.

I have been severely struggling with the plot. The plot concerns a veteran going back to the Black Death, it is seen as extremely dangerous not only given how much the bubonic plague wiped out a third of the planet's population but also people get dangerous in those situations. The company, called Hent's Altruistic Ventures, agree to his choice of placements but they make him go back with a rookie. The reason is his blackbox was recovered saying he did go into his mission with a rookie and something happened; management won't tell him what for fear of it changing his own reactions.

He agrees knowing there is a very good chance the mission will go badly. It does but he finds out the rookie screws up by letting someone have access to their medication which protects them from the plague, in essence saving someone who should have died. This in turns gives away their cover and well human beings in bad situations around the unknown is never going to go well.

The problem comes from two big issues.

1. the story gets very formulaic just as the work would be. go to a town/village, set up a clinic and treat people with painkillers to they heal or die as time says they would. the concept is interesting but I don't want to just drop anvils from on high for the sake of cheap thrills.
2. the story's ending is enormously depressing. A witch hunt that results in both characters dying of exhaustion, exposure to the elements and likely disease is too depressing for even me to write and I'm the person who wrote a story about a man being arrested persecuted and used as a martyr for a cause against his will.

any ideas? I love the concept but I think i lack the skill to write it

I know there have been a huge amount of comic book films lately but I think live action is the wrong way to go. Despite the general view of the literary world comics actually hold some of the best stories ever told. The dark knight returns is an epic in the true sense of the word, those that didn't read Aeneid or Homer may need to look that up. It is the tale of a people, the tale of a man fighting for his way of life. It has very cutting political satire but rather than beating us over the head in some cases whole characters are described in a single line I.e. "I have to do it, it's what the polls say I should do."

I mention this because the Dark Knight Returns was made into an almost frame by frame accurate animated movie. It is fantastic, much better than the Dark Knight series and I hold the Dark Knight series in very high esteem.

Should the leaning be just to recreate the comics? Huge two and a half hour animated films. The long Halloween is one of the best pieces of art ever in my opinion showing hubris, fear of change, hatred at ones own family and in others a powerful longing for friendship. It is a true tragedy.

What do you think? should live action 'interpretations' give way to carbon copies of the comics just brought to life in animation?
