I am proud to announce that in the most recent case that I fought, the #Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, in an 8-1 vote, has decided to throw out the #improperphotography law, stating that it violates the protection of free speech under the constitution. The court ruled that photos are protected by the #firstamendment , even if the photographer is intending to arouse or gratify sexual desires, since they are “inherently expressive." The defendant, Ronald Thompson, was originally charged with 26 counts of improper photography and then went on to successfully appeal the charges.

The Supreme Court of California has ruled that for a suspect's legal protection to apply they must announce that they are choosing to remain silent. If they fail to do so, their silence can be used against them in court. In result, this ruling may affect many California criminal justice cases in the future. #California #CriminalJustice
