As recent headlines show, we can't assume that the data we store online is 100% safe. Here are some tips on how to protect your data and personal information:

Be smart with your passwords. Change your password every few months and make it one that is a combination of letters, numbers and even symbols. And never use the same password for every site or program you log into.

-Be careful with what apps you install on your phone. Unless you are extremely savvy, apps can access your personal information that is stored on your phone.

-Secure your wireless connection. Make sure your home and work networks are setup with a secure password. And when using wifi elsewhere, be careful with what information you transmit. Stick with networks you know and trust for accessing online banking or your cloud.

-Upgrade your security. There are many great software packages you can get that set you up with a personal firewall and protection against malware, adware and virus'.
