In several trips through Colorado since I started exploring indie coffee, my focus was initially on Denver cafes, naturally, and last year one or two in Boulder, so it was about time that I hit up Fort Collins.

Harbinger Coffee is a smallish space, but I really dug the decor and the passion that the barista who opened this morning demonstrated for the coffee.

I also enjoyed a solid cup of a Sweet Bloom roast, my second experience with that roaster. I'd had it once before, at Third Rail in Manhattan, as a Chemex, and not found it that great. This cup, however, batch-brewed, also an Ethiopian roast, was excellent, and it got even better as it cooled.
