Hey all you awesome Toronto GDGers -

We're beginning to put together the GDG Toronto meetup for November and would like to reach out and see if anyone is interested in presenting.

This month's topic will be Google Cloud Platform (App Engine, Compute Engine, Big Query among others)

https://cloud.google.com/

So essentially we're looking for a Senior Developer in Toronto that has experience working with these advanced services and would be willing to do a 45mins presentation for our group. We would like an overview of some of the major products - examples of apps that are currently using these services (gaming or apps) and a dive into the main control panel for Google Cloud.

We're going to give this a few days and if anyone is interested, please submit a comment with your contact info below or you can email me directly at: greg@bnotions.com

Thanks!

GDG Toronto Friends,

We've got a couple of announcements that we would like to share with everyone.

First off, we've organized a July GDG Toronto edition that'll take place on Tuesday July 30th at 7pm at the BNOTIONS offices (106 Front St E - 2nd Floor - Front/Jarvis). The session will be on Google Apps Script presented by Alex Tucker, Technical Director at BNOTIONS.

"Google Apps Script lets you do more with Google. All on a JavaScript platform in the cloud."

We'll be diving deep into what makes Apps Script so powerful, walk through the Google Drive integration, see some Apps in action, live code a prototype using Google Forms among other highlights. Participants will also be able to download a sample project developed during the workshop.

Secondly, as you may have noticed the past few months, we've been slowly moving away from Meetup.com and will be hosting all our Events and discussions on Google+. Google has recommended that we use their Events platform and we've had lots of success using the new Communities feature with other workshops we've hosted. With that said, we are pleased to introduce the GDG Toronto Community Page - a place to discuss everything GDG, submit session topic ideas, participant downloads and will host all our future event details.

Here's our new Google+ Community - you'll also see the July Event posted and can RSVP there.

Looking forward to everyone joining us!

Hey Everybody -

Just a reminder that the FIRST EVER Google DevFest in this part of the continent is occurring at the end of this month.

This DevFest will be an action-packed one-day conference featuring speakers from Google (so far the YouTube and Developer Relations teams are confirmed), as well as speakers from various GDG's in this part of the world, including GDG Detroit, GDG Columbus, GDG Sudbury and of course the community here in Toronto.

September 28 is the day, and the event will be taking place in Waterloo -

Don't have a way to get to Waterloo?

DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!

There will be a GDG Toronto Bus leaving the BNOTIONS office (106 Front St. E) in the morning and returning at the end of the day -

NO excuse to miss out on this one.

Passes for the event are ridiculously affordable - the Google crew wants excited developers to show up and have a great time!

Tell a friend to tell a friend to tell a friend.

See you there!

Hey Everybody -

Looks like a Google Dev Fest initiative (http://www.devfest.info/) is going to be making its way to this part of the world, culminating in a large Conference taking place in Waterloo at the end of September.

We are in initial planning stages right now, but from the looks of it, this will be a two-day event featuring speakers from across the spectrum of Google products, both from the Google team itself and from the developer communities in this part of the continent.

This event will be a collaboration between Google, as well as the Google Developer Groups in the geographic vicinity, including us here at GDG Toronto, GDG Detroit, GDG Sudbury, and GDG Columbus among others -

To help guide everything, please fill out this survey so we can gauge the interest of the GDG Toronto group - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Lt0CVN0F4iEbOYQzKrCzAfi-8eH56xUvgyLjwT1Gnvc/
As far as planning goes, we are tentatively discussing the logistics of getting a shuttle bus to take a bunch of folks from Toronto to Waterloo for the weekend!

The preliminary planning also includes getting ideas together for great content that people are looking to hear about, as well as ways to get Toronto Developers out to Waterloo for the last weekend of September -

We will be posting up more details as they emerge -

As always, looking forward to hearing your feedback about what kind of content you feel would make a great Google Conference!

What do you want to hear about?

What do you want to get your hands on?

Take care,

The GDG Toronto Team

Introduction

Welcome to the official GDG Toronto Google+ page!

The Google Developer Group Toronto (GDG) is for people who are interested in Google's technology, whether you develop on or just love to use them.

A GDG can take many forms — from just a few people getting together to watch our latest video, to large gatherings with demos and lectures, to events like code sprints and hackathons.

If you want to learn more about Google technologies - circle us and stay up to date with our events!!

Disclaimer: GDG Toronto is an independent group; our activities and the opinions expressed on this +Page should in no way be linked to Google, the corporation.

GDG Toronto Sponsors: This group is a community-orientated, volunteer-driven event. We are lucky to have the support of the Yorkville Media Centre and BNOTIONS!! Without their generosity these events would not be possible.
