http://meifitness.com/supplement-your-workout-with-bcaas/

Per bodybuilding.com, “BCAAs increase synthesis of the cellular machinery responsible for carrying out the process of protein synthesis. Thus, BCAAs not only increase the rate of protein synthesis, but they also increase the cell’s capacity for protein synthesis!” Not only do you get to spice up plain ol’ water, but you’re enabling your body to preserve muscle mass and increase your energy level at the same time.
If you’re feeling unmotivated or fatigued try supplementing your pre-workout routine with BCAA’s to increase energy levels and get motivated. For post workout, BCAA’s help decrease muscle soreness so you can train more frequently. Essentially these branch chain amino acids are great to drink at any time before, during, or after your workout.
Keep in mind that BCAA’s will be most effective when supplemented with a nutritious and healthy diet combined with an active lifestyle. So, if you have been struggling with seeing the results from your attempts to lose weight or build muscle, your diet could be the determining factor.
At Mei Fitness, our personal trainers are knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to personalizing workouts and meal plans for success. They will inform you about supplements that would be most beneficial for you and get you started on a personalized workout regimen.
If personal training is something you’re interested in, schedule a free fitness today. Stop by during our staffed hours or give us a call at 800-479-6710

http://meifitness.com/laser-hair-removal-what-you-need-to-know/

If you’re tired with the hassle of shaving and waxing on a regular basis, and hate dealing with the nuisance of ingrown hairs and razor burn, laser hair removal might be and option to consider.
Laser hair removal has been around since the 90’s and is a safe and effective way to get rid of that unwanted hair on your face, arms, bikini line and more. Laser hair treatment works by targeting the hair follicle using light. The pigment in the follicle absorbs the light which destroys the hair. The darker and coarser the hair the better! Fine hair has less pigment therefore can’t absorb as much light whereas thicker hair can absorb a lot of light due to the dark pigment, making it a better candidate for laser hair treatment.
Waxing and shaving irritates skin surrounding the follicle and needs to be done more frequently. Not only does it irritate the skin but it isn’t a permanent solution to hair removal. Laser hair treatment provides a permanent solution and typically consists of 6-8 sessions 8-12 weeks apart depending on the area. The follicle is specifically targeted which means less irritation for the rest of your skin. Pricing varies depending on the clinic you choose to go to and how large the surface area being treated is.
Integrative Aesthetics covers all types of areas for laser hair removal such as:
Small areas include: Ears, Nose, Eyebrows, Areola, Chin, Front or Back of Neck, Sideburns, Cheeks, Hands, Feet, Basic Bikini, Belly Button line.
Medium areas include: Lip and Chin, Chin and jawline, Shoulders, Upper Arms, Lower Arms, Upper Legs, Lower Legs, Extended Bikini, Underarms.
Large areas include: Brazilian, Full Face, Abdomen, Chest, Buttocks, Full Arms, Full Back, Full Legs.
According to The Hair Removal Forum, “Generally, laser hair removal is not much more painful than waxing, though the sensation is different. With each pulse, the feeling resembles a rubber band snapping against the skin for a quick second. Pain is only felt while laser is hitting the skin and doesn’t last.” It is recommended to shave the skin 1-2 days before your scheduled appointment so the follicle specifically can be targeted and not the growing hair above it. You should expect shedding of the hair treated about 3 weeks post-operative appointment. After your session exfoliating and scrubbing gently in the shower is recommended to speed up the shedding process.
If you feel that laser hair removal is right for you, support local and check out Integrative Aesthetics, Medicine and Laser removal! Located in Carmel, Indiana to schedule an appointment. They take a smarter, whole body approach to health care.

http://meifitness.com/the-dangers-of-dehydration/

The Dangers of Dehydration
Most people don’t realize what a difference drinking more water can make! If you feel tired or crave sweets often, try incorporating more H2O into your daily regimen – it can make a huge difference!
Mild dehydration is extremely common and it affects your mood and energy levels. Simply being thirsty is not the only indication that you are dehydrated. Dehydration makes you feel sluggish and tired. It also makes you crave sugars which hinders your progress toward your goals.
Water makes up about 60% of your body weight. Every system in your body depends on water. The more you work out, the more water you need to drink! On average, 2 liters of water per day should be consumed. Pro tip from our Mei Fitness personal trainer Ethan, “To get adequate fluid intake, I recommend always having a water bottle around so drinking water becomes a habit.” Just like working out, eating healthy and staying hydrated takes effort and commitment. To create a healthy lifestyle consistency is important.
According to Mayoclinic.org, “drink enough fluid so that you rarely feel thirsty and your urine is colorless or light yellow”. This is a simple and effective way to tell if you’ve been getting enough water.. Drinking water boosts your metabolism, helps prevent kidney stones, regulates your body temperature and prevents cardiovascular disease.

Woke up today feeling BLESSED and THANKFUL to live the life i do!!! it’s easy to get stuck in the habit of having a negative mindset and always looking at the glass half-empty.
being involved in the healthcare field has really opened my eyes to the cruelties of life. i’m with people every day that have terminal and chronic illnesses & mental and physical disabilities that they have little to no control over. it really makes you realize how amazing & horrible life can be for some people. when i leave clinical or work, i have the freedom to do whatever i want, whether that’s spending time with the people i love or going to the gym…. i’m not confined to a hospital bed with a life-ending disease.
it’s hard to handle all of the stressors and complications life throws at us but it’s up to you to wake up everyday thankful and happy to be alive! #foodforthought #ifyoucandreamit #youcandoit #rightryan (800) 479-6710

New Apparel Coming to Mei Fitness!

It is no secret that compression and comfort are essential for a successful workout. A tighter fitting material increases blood circulation and oxygen flow to the muscle groups being worked. Besides compression material being beneficial while you’re working out it prevents build-up of lactic acid which prevents soreness after a long night at the gym.
Here’s the breakdown:
Spandex (18%) wicks moisture, dries easily and is breathable.
Polyester (82%) wrinkle resistant and lightweight
66 Apparel is our go-to for all workout gear! If you need quality custom clothing, support local and check them out!
“We create quality garments with your logo or design. Provide your own graphics or just a rough idea, and Six Six will help you create the perfect look. We have several imprinting methods: screen print, dye sublimation and embroidery.”
“Six Six is a youthful business centered on quality and hard work. We apply the Kaizen philosophy to all processes: continually improving in efficiency and caliber. The details matter to us. We keep our equipment free of ink-splatter and our floor shiny. Each order is triple-checked for appearance and accuracy before it goes out. We are driven to make Six Six a leader in custom apparel.”
Personal trainers constantly stress the importance of going through full range of motion to get the best results from exercise. Wear workout gear that enables you to be the best you!
The right apparel doesn’t get in your way: If you run, cycle, do plyometrics or even yoga wearing tighter fitting clothing is your best bet. Our apparel regulates your body temperature during your workout so you can look and feel cool.

Benefits of Using a Sauna
Our sauna is a great way to relax and unwind after a work out! In the winter months, it is also a great way to warm up from the cold. We infuse our water with 100% pure peppermint essential oil to create a fresh and inviting atmosphere.
Here some benefits of using the sauna:
• Sweat out toxins
o Due to heat of sauna, core body temperature rises. Then blood vessels dilate and increased blood flow speeds up the body’s natural healing process.
• Heart health
o With repeated sauna use we condition our hearts to improve rate and cardiovascular output.
• Reduce incidence of cold/illness
o Makes your body produce more white blood cells to prevent sickness.
• Relieve stress
o The heat from our sauna stimulates the release of endorphins
• Cleanses skin
o Flush out dirt and oil – dead skin cells are replaced. Improves skin elasticity, rinses out bacteria and relieves facial tension.
• Burn calories
o The sweating process requires a lot of energy thus burning extra calories!
Saunas are a great way to start or end your day! It isn’t recommended to bring your phone in as it could overheat but there is a timer on the wall for your convenience. It is suggested to not stay in the sauna more than 15 minutes at a time to prevent overheating.
Come check out our facility or set up a fitness orientation to learn more about our equipment and other great features!
