#VelocityPainting

I've modified my script to allow an image to be wrapped around models in a cylindrical fashion. The pattern still goes right through the model but radiates from the z axis rather than going through the model like words through Blackpool rock. This is sebastianrosca's tower on thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:122129) combined with a rough stone texture tweaked for high contrast.

It didn't work initially -- way too subtle, but then my 12y/o daughter said "why don't you make the fast bits faster" and I realised that although even faster doesn't change the look of the print in my tests, my tests were changing the velocity gradually, and actually a lot of this effect seems to be from the low pressure created during a sudden change to high speed.

So, 13mm/s low speed, 60mm/s high speed et voila it works! There are small holes in the print from the high-speed under-extrusion effects, but they're worth it for the end result, and I'm sure that can be tuned.

So, subtle, but neat! #3Dprinting
