Highland Park Feasts on Plant Food at Figueroa Produce

Hordes of Hungry Highland Park residents lined up at Figueroa Produce on Saturday, for a meatless barbecue feast.

It's a little expensive and availability can be slim, but this place is run really well. Staff is friendly and professional. The place is always clean and safe.

THE best thing in Burbank. Friendly, casual bar. Extensive beer list that changes daily, craft beer ONLY, all from CA breweries except for one rotating selection from out of state. Half the taps are IPA, the other half are all other styles (but they RARELY have a sour on tap, unfortunately). The kitchen is gourmet bar food, extensive vegan menu -- lots of fake meat options but don't overlook the salads, they're surprisingly great. Small sidewalk patio seating area. Pool table and board games available, too. If you're seeking a bar to be a regular in, Tony's is the place you've been looking for.

Great weekend hangout by the river. Bike in! Outdoor picnic table-style seating under canvas shade. usually a local band or musician playing. Small cornhole (bags) court. Perfect place to bring kids, have a drink (beer and wine served), socialize with the neighbors, then continue riding the LA River Path. Summer only.

Great place to hangout and drink fresh beer. The deck is awesome at sunset. There are games available to play at the long communal tables. Bring food or order in if you're hungry. I recommend Equelecua Cuban Cuisine, right across the street.

LOVE this cafe / bike shop. If you don't need your biked worked on just come in for a coffee. There's lots of eclectic seating, sometimes live music and/or popup food vendors. Coffee is excellent here -- espresso, pour over, aeropress all expertly made to order using rotating locally roasted beans. Cold drinks, too. One of my favorite places in LA.

Great little casual restaurant. Only a few tables, food is fresh but fast. I recommend the crunchy seaweed roll for an appetizer. Tip: There's a couple secret parking spaces behind the restaurant -- enter via the alley.

This place doesn't look like much at first glance, but the machines are clean and work well. There's always an attendant there who is constantly cleaning up the washers so they're ready for the next user. I was going to a couple other laundromats in the area that are nicer in some ways, bigger with more seating and tables, but their washers were always caked with old detergent. This place is taken care of well. It's all coin op. Dryers are free and get the job done in 30min.
