Wasn't sure if this goes here or in "Discussion" but ...

I'm looking for recommendations! There's a game called Roll Through the Ages which I love the mechanics of, but which is increasingly and frustratingly unbalanced. For those unfamiliar, it is a resource management game entirely dependent upon dice rolls. Each die has resources and negative consequences that can come up. You have 2 free re-rolls of any non-negative dice. You then use the final set of resources to build ports, provinces, monuments, armies, and developments, and occasionally fight people or demand tribute from your opponents. It's a little bit like a more complex Yahtzee, if I'm honest....

Google and our FLGS have turned up little. The closest our FLGS came up with was Kingsburg, which I liked fine, but which didn't scratch the right itch. Internets suggest Nations: The Dice Game, but I haven't played that one.

Halp?

It's been a really long time since I posted. Started work at a yarn shop in town and wanted to share a pattern I made for this year's LYS tour. It's a crocheted cowl and the pattern is free. It ws made for Queensland United cotton/wool blend yarn, but any fingering/light sport weight yarn should do.

Stitches used include FSC, SC, HDC, Middle Bar HDC) and Reverse SC.

I only post it here because it was a lot of fun to make and I know a lot of crocheters on here (I still lurk, I promise!). It's the second pattern I've ever designed/written down, and the first in crochet. Let me know what you think!

After 5 years of making my own chai lattes, I have finally got a stiff foam. I don't think there are enough words for my glee.

Happy anniversary to me! Hubby and I sat down to play Mystic Vale tonight for our anniversary. It's a deck builder from AEG with a bunch of plastic see-through cards that sleeve together to create one cohesive card. It's a lot like Dominion. Pretty solid game just from one playthrough.

I won this time, but he asked for a rematch tomorrow!

Another thing to think about, folks. I know this is an echo chamber, but this is good.

Also! If the unthinkable happens and Mr Orangeface ascends, does anybody else think we're gonna end up with a military coup? I mean, no one in military leadership can seriously want that guy to be their commander, right?
