How about this for a coincidence...HP's timeline for entering the 3D printing space fits nicely with the expiration of several key laser sintering patents, which expire in February of 2014.

According to an article in The Register, HP CEO Meg Whitman recently told the Canalys Channels Forum in Bangkok that the company will enter the 3D printer market in the middle of 2014.

Retailers are "flocking" to 3D printing.
