I was surprisingly shocked how amazing the food was. The best bar food I had in a long time. Great beer selection and this place is more of an upscale bar, very nice. Great to bring people from work, for happy hour. I highly recommend that you come here, have a beer and order food!

I would've given it 5 stars but the service was extremely slow. Luckily, management knew they were lagging behind and offered us apologies and a discount on the bill. The food, however, was awesome! I had the burger at brunch and really enjoyed every bite. Not too big but savory enough to satisfy a gnawing hunger. Definitely check this place out!

The short ribs were possibly the best thing I've ever tasted. SOOOO GOOOOD. Atmosphere is nice too.

Unreal spaghetti carbonara on their lunch menu. It was better than most Italian restaurants. My buddy had the curry chicken wrap with salad and fries. He said that was awesome and I had a few of the fries - perfectly cooked. Go here.

Good beer selection. Food decent (Wings were undercooked, but everything else was good bar food). The real reason I'm writing a review is to let parents know they are definitely not kid friendly. They have been open quite some time now and do not have high chairs. With a two year old not in a high chair, we couldn't manage her and had to get our food to go...pretty terrible dining experience because of it. I'm not complaining - any restaurant can do whatever they want. I am surprised they are so non-kid friendly though. There are a lot of young kids in the area and they miss out on the whole 5:30 family dinner crowd (or even parents who are in need of a beer crowd). Lots of friends have asked me about Porter, in which case I tell them about the high chairs. Always the same reaction - "no highchairs - I'll never go!". Heck, even Uchi has high chairs.

Porter Ale House has the approachable feel of a favorite neighborhood bar. Get together with a group of friends and head over to the Porter Ale House for a casual night of fun. There is an impressive beer list, featuring both selections brewed in Austin and beers imported from Europe. Try the “Silence of the Lamb” Burger for a creative spin on classic Mediterranean ingredients or consider Curry Fried Chicken for a savory brunch. I love, love, love this spot on South 1st! TIP: Open Mon-Fri 4 pm- midnight, Sat-Sun 10:30 am- midnight.

The Porter Gastropub is on the street level of the Tree apartment complex. The decor has a lot of wood elements, a couple long dining tables where multiple parties can sit together, a good size outdoor seating area and nice size bar. Happy hour offers a dollar or two off draught beer and signature cocktails. I has the burger is the portion was huge. It's a little on the expensive side for the quality of beef, but it was tasty.
