I bought a copy...a GOOD copy...of Catcher in the Rye for my brother for less than 5 bucks. He needed a certain copy b/c his douche bag of a teacher gave out these info packets and they all pertained to this specific copy of the book. 'Turn to page 41 of the book.' Ah...if you had any other copy of the book, it wouldn't be page 41! Psst. So we checked this place out b/c it's in the hood, and presto change-o, they had the exact copy we were looking for!

As far as stores specializing in new books go, this is the best. Awhile ago I went in needing books for my new two younger cousins (one 7, one 4). A staff member took me through the kids section picking out books that my cousins and their parents ended up loving. I've enjoyed the handful of events I've been to in the evenings as well, especially when Mary Roach did her Packing for Mars reading and Q&A! Their queer and sexuality sections are great. The general layout of the store, the chalkboard art all around the walls, and the awesome staff make this place a pretty awesome place to shop or just spend an hour in. Also great for cards and gifts!

This place is great, even though the last few times I've gone searching for a book i haven't found it (ok ok they are more rare books, so it's totally understandable) but i still come out with like five books every time. they're fairly cheap, and as far as indie The Booksmith, this is one of the least pretentious i've been to. coffee and a cat too, the later i thought was actually a stuffed cat the first two times i went there, he was in the same place and didn't move at all. it has great selection and decent prices and it smells lovely

Laid back environment and great selection of books. Tons of journals, molskines, and more to satisfy your cravings to read and write. An excellent rainy day hideaway. Be sure to check out the sweet murals above the bookshelves.

Awesome book store! Not too small, not too big, has the bestsellers, has the 'usual books', but also has tons of unusual books. Large science section, too! Wonderful place to hang out. It even has hand-written notes for many of the books which is a nice touch!
