The Northampton Arts Council is delighted to present our city’s 34th annual New Year's Eve celebration and festival of the performing arts on December 31, 2018. First Night Northampton continues to be a special opportunity to celebrate the cultural vibrancy of our community while sharing time with friends, neighbors and visitors. Because the event falls on a Monday this year, we expect it to be the centerpiece of a long holiday weekend and look forward to welcoming enthusiastic crowds at the venues and on the streets of downtown.

Once again, we will witness a spectacular display of fireworks at 6:15 pm—all visible from the heart of the city. As midnight approaches, we’ll gather together outside the Hotel Northampton for a unique “ball-raising.” A bargain-priced button is still the ticket to each performance at every venue, day and night. We ask you to join us, and our partners at PeoplesBank, by sponsoring this alcohol-free, family-friendly event.

The Northampton Arts Council is working to keep our community’s New Year’s Eve tradition intact. Our goal is to provide a source of revenue for innovative arts programming through our ArtsEZ grant round, which is direct aid to artists, arts organizations and public schools for arts enrichment, and educational outreach to the community. While we continue to produce Four Sundays in February (Silver Chord Bowl, KidsBestFest-YouthFilm, Sunday Afternoon Live,) The Northampton Summer Concert Series, Transperformance, Retrofaire, the Northampton Arts Council Biennial, appoint Northampton’s Poet Laureate, as well as administrate the Paradise City Cultural District, we need your help to sustain our mission of working to support and nurture the arts in the city of Northampton.

First Night depends upon the support of our most important partner—the city of Northampton. The offices of the Mayor and Central Services along with police, fire, public works, and licensing departments are critical to its success. We also rely on the generosity of performance venues throughout town and button-sales locations throughout the Valley. In the end, we benefit from the assistance of over 100 volunteers who make a complex logistical operation run smoothly.

While our partners and volunteers are important, sponsorship is the key to success of this signature event. We hope that you will enthusiastically participate by underwriting the performers who make Northampton’s First Night an uncommonly joyous occasion for all of us. Your timely pledge enables us to put together a top-notch program of entertainment and activities. For more information please visit: http://firstnightnorthampton.org/sponsorfirstnight/
